### Jython 2.7.5 beta (v2.7.5b1 August 2026)

A beta release is now available for Jython 2.7.5 at [Maven Central](https://search.maven.org/search?q=g:org.python).
It is tested as standard against Java 8 and Java 11.

for bugs fixed and features added.
Thanks to all those who have helped identify and fix bugs or add features.

A notable feature of the 2.7.5 release compatibility with Java 25,
where changes in default accessibility have been treated by native access options.
The standard regression tests pass on Java 17 and Java 25,
apart from certain socket tests on run on GitHub CI on Ubuntu,
which we attribute to rapid creation and tear-down of sockets,
unrepresentative of use.
