I'm a senior software engineer in Charlotte, North Carolina, building reliable AI agents, retrieval and evaluation systems, and compliance-sensitive infrastructure.
I have more than 30 years of experience shipping production software, including 13 years in CTO and technical leadership roles and 5½ years building privacy and data-rights infrastructure at Transcend. I'm currently the founder of Queen City Cortex.
My current work focuses on AI systems that can explain where their answers came from and be tested when the underlying models or retrieval strategies change.
I built an NC Medicaid policy agent as an independent nights-and-weekends project while working at Transcend. It answers benefits and eligibility questions with citations to primary policy sources and uses a regression-gated evaluation harness to catch retrieval failures before changes ship. The project grew out of my own experience navigating Medicaid policy and seeing how much the outcome can depend on whether someone understands the rules well enough to challenge a mistake.
I also build tools for agent-orchestrated software development. In 2026, 89% of my merged production pull requests at Transcend were agent-authored, while my merge velocity roughly doubled year over year. Tests, recorded mocks, and review remained the guardrails.
- agent-procs — A Rust process manager for AI agents. Background processes persist across CLI invocations, with readiness checks, dependency ordering, restarts, file watching, and log access.
- skill-scanner-docker — A containerized distribution of Cisco AI Defense's skill scanner for detecting prompt injection, data exfiltration, and malicious patterns in agent skills.
At Transcend, I worked across privacy and data-rights infrastructure, compliance-sensitive workflows, and integrations with hundreds of inconsistent third-party APIs. Earlier in my career, I served as CTO of two companies, led platform migrations and infrastructure modernization, and taught full-stack software development to more than 300 students at UNC Charlotte.
I'm especially interested in staff-level engineering roles where AI, reliability, and public impact intersect.
