Agentic engines need a shared way to select tool profiles without coupling profile parsing to Copilot SDK. This introduces the generic configuration contract while deferring engine-specific runtime behavior.

tools:
  profile: [profile-a, profile-b]

  • Configuration

    • Accept tools.profile as a string or unique, non-empty array.
    • Normalize profile names and expose them through workflow data.

  • Import merging

    • Merge profiles in declaration order.
    • Deduplicate profiles across shared workflow imports.
    • Reject malformed values and selector/MCP naming collisions.

  • MCP compatibility

    • Preserve map-shaped custom MCP servers named profile.
    • Support importing and merging those servers without treating them as profile selectors.

  • Documentation

    • Document the generic profile syntax and engine-owned semantics.
