Summary

  • Adds claude-review, a single-file bash CLI that reviews any GitHub PR and outputs a structured Markdown report
  • Zero external dependencies — just gh + jq + standard Unix tools
  • Scans for hardcoded secrets, debug leftovers, empty catch blocks, missing tests, oversized PRs, dependency changes, and more
  • Outputs: summary, file changes table, risk assessment, suggestions, stats, and a confidence score (High/Medium/Low)

How it works

claude-review --pr https://github.com/facebook/react/pull/32650

The script fetches PR metadata and diff via gh, runs pattern-matching against added lines, tallies a weighted risk score, and renders Markdown. ~350 lines of bash, nothing clever.

Tested on real PRs

1. react/react#32650 — CI workflow cleanup

Small, clean PR refactoring yarn commands. No issues found → High confidence.

2. nodejs/node#57846 — C FFI entrypoint

4 lines added to node.cc with zero test changes. Tool flags missing test coverage → Medium confidence.

Full outputs in examples/.

Also works as a GitHub Action

Included a workflow YAML example in the README that posts review comments on PRs automatically.

Acceptance criteria

  • CLI: claude-review --pr <URL>
  • GitHub Action workflow YAML in README
  • Structured Markdown: summary, risks, suggestions, confidence score
  • Tested on 2 real PRs with outputs included
  • README with setup and usage

Test plan

  • Clone repo, run claude-review --pr on any public PR
  • Verify Markdown output renders correctly
  • Test with a PR that has console.logs or TODO comments to see warnings
  • Test the GitHub Action workflow on a test repo

A single bash script that analyzes GitHub PRs via `gh` CLI and outputs
structured Markdown reports with summary, risks, suggestions, and
confidence scoring. No API keys or external services needed.

Tested on react/react#32650 and nodejs/node#57846.
