HIGH VOLTAGE SIGN (`⚡`, U+26A1) replaced with BOX DRAWINGS LIGHT DOWN AND RIGHT and BOX DRAWINGS LIGHT UP AND LEFT (`┌┘`, U+250C + U+2518). The latter behave like two characters in every context as opposed to the former - maybe 2...? This was formerly a part of chubin#906. Fixes chubin#100, chubin#192, chubin#901 and chubin#1056; probably chubin#784 as well.

People like the high voltage sign a lot. Instead of removing it, maybe we should fix the bug properly and only use your replacement in a special mode (with an option to enable it)? |

I was under an opposite impression; do they, really? One of the issues (#1056) asks why, among the great-looking ASCII art, the lightning bolts are emoji - why is that, actually, the case? Not to mention the symbol stands for, you said it, high voltage - not a meteorological phenomenon. As for the bug - what even is the bug? If it's about the glyph being 2 characters wide in most cases, but 1 character elsewhere - I don't think it can be fixed without going through every implementation imaginable or settling on a character/set of characters with constant behaviour - which is what I'm aiming to do here. I want to believe the replacement is clean and palatable, but I'm just a single user among many. If the assumption is that it's 2c wide but 1c instead, you get #901; if it's vice versa, #192. |
