Retrofit of a custom led taillight and indicator lights (blinker) based on Arduino/Esp8266 code and a WS2812B/WS2815 LED strip.
- ESP01 or Arduino Nano
- WS2812B or WS2815 LED strip
- Car tail light supply for the LED strip by reverse engineering for signal-enabling
- AMS1117-3.3 voltage regulator to power on microcontroller
| Function | LED Color | Animation | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reverse Light | White | All LEDs ON | 1 |
| Turn Signal (Left) | Orange | Sequential (→) | 2 |
| Turn Signal (Right) | Orange | Sequential (←) | 2 |
| Brake Light | Red | All LEDs ON | 3 |
The system prioritizes reverse > turn signal > brake light when multiple signals are active.
A single LED strip is used for all functions, dynamically controlled via input pins on the Arduino board.
Only one indicator direction can be selected. You need to duplicate the hardware system to both car sides (but the code is reusable as-is).
#define TURN_DIRECTION "LEFT"
#define NUM_LEDS 24
#define DATA_PIN 6 //Led stripe data pin
#define LED_TYPE WS2812B
#define COLOR_ORDER GRB
