This was requested already in #13855 which got closed as a duplicate of some internal ticket.

The point of this PR is that 26.04 is no longer in beta. It is released for production.

Ubuntu 26.04 image has been released in Azure Marketplace. We are preparing our pipelines, so our image will be soon available.

As it already has been stated - there will be separate announcement for this.

Quick question: could we update Nginx to use the latest version, too?

Checking the endoflife website, the version 1.28 ended on 14 Apr 2026.

@claudenirmachado Ubuntu 26.04 does ship with this version. If you want a change in the nginx version in Ubuntu 26.04 this should probably be directed to Ubuntu directly.

I would also highly appreciate if Ubuntu 26.04 could be released as a GitHub runner image soon as Ubuntu 26.04 fixes bubblewrap whereas bubblewrap is still broken in the default configuration of Ubuntu 24.04.

Patience... If you look at the hidden comments above, you will see that @jiridanek posted on May 1 a thoughtful analysis of past image updates, which shows that it takes time and that there will be a beta cycle before a production image release.
