Add the mandatory AI-assistance trailer
The reviewed commit is authored by Codex, but its commit message has no Assisted-by: AGENT_NAME:MODEL_VERSION trailer. AGENTS.md makes that disclosure mandatory for every AI-assisted contribution, so add the required trailer before merge.

Run the required validation suites
The commit's own scope limits state that the full workspace suites were not run, while AGENTS.md requires the workspace tests and the separate C-API tests at minimum before completion. Run those mandatory suites rather than relying only on the focused mmap checks and Clippy passes.

Remove the prohibited snippet-test additions
AGENTS.md limits modifications to test files to adding or removing expected-failure decorators, but this patch adds new assertions, callback helpers, and control flow to extra_tests/snippets/stdlib_mmap.py. Remove the new test logic or obtain an explicit repository-policy exception instead of landing a test-file modification outside the allowed forms.

Update the library-upgrade workflow to 3.14.8
Changing the repository target here leaves .github/workflows/upgrade-pylib.md:55 pinned to PYTHON_VERSION: "v3.14.7", and line 71 clones that branch. Every manually dispatched library-upgrade run will therefore copy 3.14.7 sources even though the status and CI workflows now derive 3.14.8 from this file, producing stale upgrade PRs; update that workflow pin with the target bump.

Extract the backported bound-validation removal and align the CPython reference pin to 3.14.8 so both snippet interpreters exercise the same contract. Assisted-by: OpenAI Codex:model identifier unavailable
The 3.14.8 reference pin exposes the Argument Clinic deletion guard moved before initialization and attachment checks by CPython 90a1f02b7da0c356d10a23f1faee7dc063f887ed. Preserve assignment checks and align the exact deletion error, including subclass type names. Assisted-by: OpenAI Codex:model identifier unavailable
Use the existing mapping guard for bounds and writes after argument conversion, including empty assignments. Match the Python 3.14.8 ordering while preserving export guards and ownership APIs. Assisted-by: OpenAI Codex:model identifier unavailable

Summary
Extract only the two assignment helpers from #8954, adapted onto current main without removing its export protections or regression tests.
Finish argument conversion before taking the target mapping lock. Under the existing writable/validity guard, calculate bounds from the current backing slice and keep that same guard through all writes, including extended slices. Empty assignments also validate writability and mapping state.
This follows CPython 3.14.8's assignment ordering;
.python-versionis aligned to the approved 3.14.8 reference. Constructors, ownership APIs, buffer export checks, and resize behavior remain unchanged.Validation
Scope limits
RustPython's existing RHS-buffer release timing and readonly-before-callback ordering differ from CPython and are outside this patch. This is not a complete mmap ownership/resize compatibility claim. The existing Windows resize regression remains unchanged and was not executed locally. Full workspace suites and non-Linux runtime checks were not run locally; hosted CI is pending.
Shared Python 3.14.8 prerequisite
This branch retains the identical #9063 prerequisite commits through
399e5b06, including TextIOWrapper chunk-size deletion behavior required by the 3.14.8 reference snippets. The mmap implementation and complete regression snippet are byte-for-byte unchanged; existing export/close/resize guards remain intact. The combined head passed normal hooks, native build, stdlib and separate C-API Clippy, four exact reference/native mmap and IO pytest nodes, the bounded self-assignment probe, and two canonical extended-slice cases. Tests used the freshly built patched binary on Linux; no unsafe old-baseline, resize, or invalid-file-descriptor probes were run. Hosted CI remains pending.
Summary by CodeRabbit
TextIOWrapper._CHUNK_SIZEnow consistently raises anAttributeErrorwith a message identifying the attribute and object type.ParamSpecnow preserves supplied bound values instead of requiring them to be types.Canonical boundary-test alignment
The hosted canonical test exposed an omitted companion test update, not a runtime dispatch regression. CPython's matching 3.14 backport GH-158027 changes the boundary-assignment RHS from
b'\0'to integer0, preserving theIndexErrorassertion. The exact 3.14.8 source and mega already contain that line; this PR now includes it. Runtime source and storage/export guards are unchanged.Tiny four-byte anonymous-map checks pass on the existing native candidate and official CPython 3.14.8: both direct
__setitem__and syntax raise IndexError for an out-of-range index with RHS 0, TypeError with a bytes RHS, and ValueError with RHS 256. The prior mmap snippet, self-assignment case, two canonical extended-slice methods, and four mmap/IO pytest cases also pass again. The fulltest_basicmethod was not rerun locally because it includes resize/file operations outside this bounded validation; hosted CI will verify the complete canonical method. Normal hooks passed. No runtime rebuild was needed for this one-line Python test-data synchronization.
