FOUR-32246 Ethos user sync failure caused by insufficient lastname field length - #9096

Issue & Reproduction Steps

Ethos user sync fails when a person's first or last name exceeds 50 characters (SQLSTATE[22001]: Data too long for column 'lastname'). Example: Mohamed Abdelmoneim Ramadan Mohamed Abdallah Elrefai (51 characters).

1. Configure Ethos integration.
2. Sync a user with a last name longer than 50 characters.
3. Run the overnight Ethos sync (or import users).
4. Observe failed insert into users.

Solution

• Add upgrade-safe migration widening users.firstname and users.lastname from VARCHAR(50) to VARCHAR(255) (down() is intentionally empty).
• Raise max:50 to max:255 in User::rules() and in installer admin name prompts.
• Add API feature tests for 255-character acceptance and 256-character rejection.

How to Test

• Run php artisan migrate and confirm SHOW COLUMNS FROM users shows varchar(255) for firstname and lastname.
• Run tests/Feature/Api/UsersTest.php methods testCreateUserAcceptsNamesUpTo255Characters and testCreateUserRejectsLastnameLongerThan255Characters.
• With package-ellucian-ethos PR merged/deployed, re-run Ethos sync for a user with the example long name above.
