SHEMO (Smart Home Emergency Management Ontology) is an ontology designed to model and manage emergency situations in smart homes. It integrates SOSA (Sensor, Observation, Sample, and Actuator ontology) and ThinkHome ontology to provide a structured framework for detecting, classifying, and responding to various home emergencies.
SHEMO aims to enhance smart home intelligence by enabling:
- Emergency detection using sensor-based observations.
- Automated emergency response through actuations and notifications.
- Integration with smart city infrastructures to coordinate emergency services.
- Emergency Detection: Identifies hazards such as fire, gas leaks, water leaks, home intrusion, and power failures using sensor data.
- Automated Response: Defines emergency applications and processes to handle detected emergencies, including:
- Activating alarms
- Notifying occupants and emergency services
- Controlling actuators (e.g., closing gas valves, unlocking doors, illuminating perimeters)
- Ontology Integration: SHEMO extends ThinkHome for automation processes and SOSA for sensor-based observations.
- Reasoning & Rule-Based Processing: Supports SWRL rules for automated reasoning over emergency situations.
SHEMO consists of the following core components:
- Emergency Events: Fire, flood, gas leak, home intrusion, etc.
- Sensors: SmokeSensor, MotionSensor, GasSensor, WaterLeakSensor, etc.
- Actuators: FireAlarm, GasValveActuator, DoorLockActuator, etc.
- Emergency Applications: Fire Emergency Application, Intrusion Emergency Application, etc.
- Processes: Specific actions such as activating alarms, closing valves, or locking doors.
- Ontology Import: SHEMO can be imported into Protégé for editing, reasoning, and validation.
- SWRL Rules: Custom rules can be created to enhance emergency response automation.
- Integration: Can be integrated with smart home management systems and IoT frameworks
