Hi, I'm Seán, an astronomer at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) in Garching bei München, Germany. I study mass loss in massive stars and the nature of interacting transients.
Research Focus I focus on the final stages of massive stellar evolution, particularly pre-supernova activity, to understand what happens in the weeks and months leading up to core collapse. My work generally covers:
- High-energy astrophysical transients, with a focus on interacting systems and their spectral signatures
- Multi-wavelength photometric analysis using instruments like the MPI 2.2m/GROND
- X-ray studies using data from eROSITA and the Einstein Probe
- Building tools to detect early-time progenitor variability, helping us prepare for next-generation surveys like LSST
If you find any of the code from my publications useful, please feel free to use it or get in touch. I'm always happy to collaborate or answer questions.
