Systems, tools and strange little machines.
Software developer working somewhere between software, infrastructure, networks and things with cables attached to them.
I tend to work across layers rather than around a particular stack, from application code and services to operating systems, networks and devices in the field.
I also make games, music software, graphics experiments and other things that seemed like a good idea at the time.
Most of my work involves distributed monitoring and critical infrastructure: remote systems, telemetry, diagnostics, automation and the software that keeps all of it observable and manageable.
A lot of that means dealing with unreliable networks, remote hardware, incomplete information and things failing in inconvenient ways.
Lately I've been experimenting with local AI, machine learning for operational data and predictive diagnostics.
Still figuring out how much intelligence the machines actually need.
Before doing this professionally, I spent a lot of time making and modifying things for no particularly useful reason.
MUGEN, RPG Maker XP, FPS Creator, Game Boy Color development, game mods, Windows XP themes, Linux, homebrew, servers, websites, Flash, pixel art, animation and a suspicious amount of small scripts and programs.
I published mods, scripts, installers and tutorials on Taringa and tiny forums in the 2000s.
Somehow this eventually became a job.
I make music, draw, collect old hardware and read a lot.
Big fan of horror, sci-fi and weird fiction.
I am usually working on something unnecessary.
