Personal settings
View and manage the settings for your personal GitBook account
You can manage your login details, third-party login options, GitBook subdomain, interface theme, notification, integrations and API access tokens.

How to access your personal account settings
Go back to your organization Home and click Settings, under Admin in the sidebar. Account and organization settings share one screen, grouped into Account and Organization in the left-hand sidebar. Your personal settings live under Account. Click Back to app to return to your content.
How can I reset my password?
Please note, that if your account was created after October 10th 2021, it doesn’t have a password. You should be able to log in by requesting a magic link:
Visit https://app.gitbook.com
Enter the email address associated with the personal account you signed up for
Click continue
Click send a link (make sure you check your spam folder)
If you do want to reset your password:
Visit https://app.gitbook.com
Follow the forgot your password? link at the bottom of the page
Enter the email address associated with the personal account you signed up for
Click send a link (make sure you check your spam folder)
Troubleshooting sign-in
Account protection and sign-in recovery
Account disabled by administrator — GitBook automatically blocks accounts exhibiting suspicious behavior to prevent spam and scam accounts. If you believe your account was blocked unfairly, contact support; unblocking requests are assessed case by case.
GitBook uses protections against spam and fraudulent publishing. The examples here are representative, not exhaustive. We don't publish detection rules or thresholds.
The following patterns can result in an automatic block:
Don't share an account. Invite each collaborator as an individual member and assign the appropriate role.
Don't rapidly create multiple docs sites or organizations.
Avoid automation that could appear suspicious.
Don't frequently switch VPN servers during account or organization activity.
Sign-up email addresses
Email addresses containing more than three dots are blocked to prevent spam. If sign-up is rejected for this reason, use a different eligible email address.
After creating your account, use the supported email and linking options in Login details. Don't create or share accounts to work around this restriction. GitBook might not link every alternative email address.
Recovering from a block or rejected sign-up
If the guidance above doesn't resolve an account block or rejected sign-up, take these steps:
Contact Contact support.
Include the account email and a concise description of the activity or error.
Ask Support to review your eligibility. Support may unblock an account case by case.
The link to join an organization isn't working — an auth/invalid-email error means the email address invited to the organization doesn't match the email of the signed-in GitBook account. Ask the person who invited you which address they used, or ask them to invite a different one.
Error: auth/expired-action-code — the sign-in or invitation link has passed its validity period. Generate a new link, or ask the sender for a fresh one.
Error: auth/email-already-in-use — the GitHub account you're signing in with is already linked to a different GitBook account. See Potential duplicated accounts for the steps to identify and unlink it.
