About GCN

GCN is an independent U.S. news publication covering energy, technology, government, finance and cybersecurity, reporting on the decisions and developments that shape these fields in the United States and beyond.

Our story

GCN began as Government Computer News, a publication founded in 1984 by Israel “Izzy” Feldman to cover how the U.S. government used technology. For decades it built a reputation as a trusted voice on the agencies, systems and decisions behind public technology.

That title has since become GCN, now published by Impalajump Ltd. under its CEO, Carlos Albero Rojas. We carry that heritage forward, always favouring substance over speculation and labelling opinion as opinion, and we report with the same rigour on the fields that shape public life today, from energy and cybersecurity to the technology reshaping government and business.

Part of Impalajump

GCN belongs to a small family of reference publications built around the same editorial values. Alongside GCN, Impalajump publishes Energies Media, a U.S. reference for energy news, and Ecoportal, a long-standing reference in environmental journalism. Together, these titles share a commitment to rigorous sourcing and independent reporting across the fields that shape our economy and our environment.

How we work

We hold every story to the same professional standards: we check facts before we publish and correct errors promptly, we base reporting on identifiable, verifiable sources, and we keep editorial decisions independent of advertisers. We separate reporting from commentary, and opinion is labelled. What has changed is how we tell the story: we work to make careful reporting genuinely engaging, finding the real, human and concrete angle in each development, so that accuracy and a good read are never at odds.

Ownership & funding

GCN is published by Impalajump Ltd., a company registered with the Commercial Register of Bulgaria and represented by Carlos Albero Rojas. GCN is funded through advertising. It receives no government or state funding and has no affiliation with any political party, campaign or advocacy group. Sponsored content, where present, is clearly labelled and kept separate from editorial reporting.
