significant decrease

I am doing a project on bullfighting and therefore in reference to it's supposed decrease in popularity i am trying to say that "there has been a significant decrease" in interest in bullfighting.

I have come up with "ha habido una reducción significativa"..? Equally, i'm not entirely sure whether i would say "hay" because i am referring to the past?
