Diminish or decrease?

I have a doubt, I have to translate this phrase: "disminución de malentendidos y mejora en la comunicación". The translation I've made is: "Improvement of communication and decrease of misunderstandings" But i don't know if it's better to use diminish instead of deacrease??
Any ideas? :)
