Zadní Třebaň is a municipality and village in Beroun District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,000 inhabitants.

Etymology

[edit]

The name Třebaň is derived from the personal name Třeban, meaning "Třeban's (court)". The village was called Zadní Třebaň ('back Třebaň') to distinguish it from Přední Třebaň ('front Třebaň'; later renamed Hlásná Třebaň) on the opposite bank of the Berounka River. The prefix referred to the location of the village in relation to the Karlštejn Castle.[2]
