What a mess. This is a poorly sourced BLP and autobiographical piece. It's been proposed for deletion, and vandalized repeatedly by irate students, so AfD is the only way out. Bearian (talk) 13:12, 17 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

article request

[edit]

Can we get an article "Revealed willingness to pay" (RWTP)? We have willingness to pay but that's a different concept. Hmm I see we have price discovery which is about what I wanted. Its purpuse is to find out the RWTP of the asset. RWTP has a bunch of search hits in the encyclopedia and seemed worthy of an article, but maybe it's enough for now if someone could redirect it to price discovery. Thanks. ~2026-42295-00 (talk) 00:33, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Join us for the WikiProject Organized Labour editing campaign this September :).

In solidarity with meta:Wiki Workers United, we're organising a month-long cross-language campaign to improve Wikipedia's coverage of labour unions and the labour movement. What are the economic impacts of unions? How do they affect wages, company performance etc?

Request for an independent editor: Draft:Stelios Bekiros (COI declared)

[edit]

I am Stelios Bekiros, professor of AI, data science and econometrics at the University of Turin, and I am the subject of Draft:Stelios Bekiros. I have a declared conflict of interest and have been editing only through Articles for Creation.

The draft has been declined twice, most recently by Absurdum4242, for reading like a CV. I accept that criticism: I wrote it from my own CV, and I have not been able to get the tone right myself. Rather than keep resubmitting, I would like to ask whether an uninvolved editor with an interest in economics would be willing to assess the subject and, if notable, write or rewrite the article independently.

I believe the case rests on WP:NPROF criterion 1. Independent evidence:

I am happy for any or all of my draft text to be discarded, and I will not edit the article myself if one is created. I can supply further sources on request.

I would appreciate input from editors working on economics and trade articles. Export treemaps such as here on the right have been used in the trade sections of a number of “Economy of [country]” articles.

Concerns have been raised about small or truncated labels, colour dependence and accessibility. I would modify the SVGs to remove truncated labels and percentage-only labels, improve text/background contrast, and retain a textual product-group legend.

Do you consider this type of treemap useful and appropriate as a high-level visual summary of a country's export composition in such articles? Do you think the proposed changes adequately address the accessibility concerns, and would you consider these treemaps suitable for use as charts in the trade sections of “Economy of [country]” articles?

The discussion that prompted this question can be found at User_talk:Nikkimaria#Treemaps_on_exports. PJ Geest (talk) 11:49, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

358 World Bank figures that the cited series no longer supports

[edit]

I checked every English Wikipedia article that cites a data.worldbank.org/indicator link against the series the link names: 1,270 articles and 2,730 citations. For 358 of them, in 206 articles, the series now says something different from the sentence. The list is at User:Jorn3333/World Bank figures, in sortable tables grouped by kind:

  • 155 where the sentence presents a figure as current and the series has a newer year (for example, the poverty rate in Economy of Laos is given as 15.7% for 2018; the series has 7.1% for 2024);
  • 196 where the sentence states a year and the series now gives a different value for that year, usually after a revision (life expectancy in Liberia is given as 64.4 for 2020; the series now gives 61.3);
  • 7 where the figure belongs to a different year from the one stated (GNI per capita in Jamaica and the World Bank is given as $4,990 for 2018; that is the 2016 value, and 2018 was 5,610).

Nothing has been edited, and I don't plan to edit from this list myself. Each row quotes the sentence, the figure, what the series says now, and links to the series, so it can be judged in one look. On three random samples of 40 rows checked by hand, 36, 36 and 34 were right (85–90%). The errors found have been fixed since, but the fixed version has not been re-measured. So please treat each row as something to check, not something to apply. If a row is wrong, a note in its last column helps me fix the rule behind it.

The list leaves out anything it could not pin to a single year of a single country's series. That includes links naming several countries, figures that match no year, prose about a past year ("fell to 3.3% in 1986"), figures for former states, and a few other cases. So it is not a complete audit, only the rows it is confident about. The checker is freshcite (open source, read-only).

I'll re-run it in 30 days and post how many rows were resolved, which will say whether a list like this is worth making for other sources. Jorn3333 (talk) 14:27, 27 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
