User:NervousBot#Opt in says "By default you will only receive one notification, and only for articles you create. To receive additional notifications you can opt-in to future notifications." That isn't opt-in. And I see no option here I can opt out before I get that first notification, so it isn't even a proper opt-out. --Guy Macon (talk) 01:28, 29 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

That would be useful if there was a list of bots from authors who don't think that consent is required. But it would still be opt-out, not opt-in. (And no, I don't want to stop all bots. I understand that is how you feel, however the bot went via the approvals process and is operating as approved. You can make a post if you wish regarding the bot's operating at WP:BOTN. You also can set an allow list of bots that you wish to allow on your talk page instead of a deny list if that is helpful. Balance3641 🍃 (talk · contribs) 03:43, 29 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think this particular bot is of such a nature that it is OK for them to message people without prior consent. I can see that for some bots which for example might operate at a very high volume they ought to be opt-in only. But... this one? I don't see any problem.
