Reverted edit
[edit]Hello, looks like you reverted my edit on Battle of Ctesiphon (263), but it initially contained some historical issues, for example there was no battle but perhaps two campaigns according to Zosimus, so I rewrote it from scratch using reliable sources like Udo Hartmann's Oxford Handbook of Plmyra (2024). I'd be welcome to hear your thoughts about this. ~2026-44758-98 (talk) 18:46, 16 August 2026 (UTC)
- You changed the title of the article, as well as changing the content significantly. That type of change should be brought up on the talk page first. ... discospinster talk 18:49, 16 August 2026 (UTC)
- OK, sorry I didn't know that, but actually seconds after publishing it, I started a discussion on the Talk page, so if you can check it, then you may restore my edit.
- You should probably wait for other editors to chime in before restoring the edit. Perhaps you could leave a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history/Roman and Byzantine military history task force, or one of the other related Wikiprojects, asking for feedback on your proposed changes. ... discospinster talk 19:00, 16 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hello again, the article's title was successfully changed, please consider restoring my edit and also change the edit title to the corresponding one. Thank you.~2026-51264-20 (talk)

why
[edit]why u revised the ISI Texas article? I changed it because the info was inaccurate. ~2026-45171-31 (talk) 02:25, 28 August 2026 (UTC)
- Do you have a source that verifies these changes? ... discospinster talk 02:26, 28 August 2026 (UTC)
Hi discospinster, earlier today you rightly create protected the above article which kept appearing unsourced. I have just prodded Critters TV (Irish TV series) which is the same article skirting around the creation protection. Perhaps you might take a peek. I'll drop a note about sources on the creator talk page. Many thanks Josey Wales Parley 20:29, 6 September 2026 (UTC)

Inquiry
[edit]Dear Discospinster, i'm a bit worried concerning your actions toward my edits. I acknowledge that i made an error by moving my written article to the mainpage while i wasn't suppose to do so. My apologies for that. I'm an African interested in the works done in philosophy of mind and during my research, i came across the interesting works of the British and the Cameroonian Philosophers. You can bear with me that, little is writing about the works of African philosophers who are contributing ideas in philosophy of mind. So, the edits that i make for their work to be included in Wikipedia is that, their ideas can reach a greater audience so that discussion can be carried out in academia concerning their works. Even though most of the African philosophers are not yet notable, their works that i mention and cite on the different Wikipedia pages are from reliable and valid sources. So, i don't know why you have decided to revert my edits concerning the Cameroonian philosopher and left that of the British philosopher. Thanks and best regard. TKmaboy (talk) 19:37, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
- Unfortunately that is not what Wikipedia is for. It's an encyclopedia that documents subject that are already notable. So in terms of philosophers, that would involve publishing articles in well-known (not predatory) journals, writing books, or having other philosophers examine their theories. ... discospinster talk 19:55, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
- Before Articles are been published in a philosophy journal and index, they undergo per-review by philosophers and are accepted based on the importance of the ideas that the work expresses. Subjects can't become notable if the works are not mentioned and cited especially in philosophy, for different philosophers to make their opinions of it. I think that your rules are Biased. TKmaboy (talk) 21:13, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
- We don't allow pre-print, predatory journals, or self-published materials. Once the subject has actually been published in something more reputable, then that may be of some interest, but we'd still need reliable sources on the person. We are, indeed, biased towards science and reliable sources. I'm sorry if that offends you. Sam Kuru (talk) 23:57, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
- OK. OK. OK. But philosophy is not science. It generates new ideas for other fields such as science to explore. To add to this, the reputable philosophers are reputable because they publish their articles in reputable journals in which they themselves are editors and reviewers. So, to be reputable is a vicious cycle. Philosophers, particularly from Africa, submit their articles with interesting ideas in those journals you call reputable, but their articles are rejected due to reasons that are best known to the reputable editors and reviewers. the African philosophers then submit their articles in the journals you call Predatory Journals which are edited and reviewed by other philosophers whom you think are not reputable. Platforms like yours (Wikipedia) which serves as excellent areas were people can acquire knowledge for free, should not be bias in reinforcing the bias deeds of those journals you call reputable. I think that those journals are bureaucratic priesthood. For an African philosopher to be considered reputable, he/she has to study in the Western Countries, for their works to be easily accepted and i find that unfair. I think that, when an article is published in a journal, no matter the journal, it ideas deserves to be mentioned and cited in free platforms (Encyclopedia) like Wikipedia for, the article was per-reviewed. Best Regards

- Again, Wikipedia is not the place for people to try to promote original ideas, even if you really think they are great ideas. Otherwise it would not be an encyclopedia but rather a space where anyone can just talk about what they think. There are other places on the internet where people can make their ideas known such as PhilArchive, but unless the ideas are commented on by others, they are not considered notable for the purposes of this site. The vast majority of people with philosophical ideas are not going to be published in a peer-reviewed journal, for all sorts of reasons, but that's not a valid reason to use Wikipedia as a substitute for peer-reviewed publishing. ... discospinster talk 01:40, 15 September 2026 (UTC)
- '...a space where anyone can just talk about what they think.' I don't agree with you, for articles cited in Wikipedia have been published in Journals and Wikipedia can not be a substitute for peer-reviewed publishing because it's not a journal, it's an Encyclopedia. I think Wikipedia is a platform where published articles no matter the journal in which it was published (Here, i'm talking about journals with editors and reviewers and not pre-print, self publishing and personal websites), deserve to be cited. But anyhow, it seems as if you people don't want to understand my points. I cited the works of the Cameroonian philosopher in the Wikipedia pages of Consciousness, Philosophy of Mind, and Trialism because his ideas agrees and disagrees with other western philosophers in solving major problems in philosophy of mind and the ideas are published in a journal. Best Regards.

Gregory Nagy Wikipedia page
[edit]Dear Discospinster: Please consider modifying your edit regarding the photo of Professor Nagy. You have turned it into a head shot, which I may add is not very flattering (there are better head shots of him available). But, more importantly, the edit takes him out of his element, so to speak. He is known as an authority on ancient Greek literature and that is why it seems worthwhile to include a photo of him with some ancient Greek monument in the background. Otherwise, we are de-contextualizing him. Please give it some thought. Sincerely, OliverAlden1915

SolarEdge in need of a reliable source
[edit]Hey, I saw you reverted my edit on the SolarEdge page. Is there any way you could leave part of what I said up? There isn't much documentation about why SolarEdge is such a terrible company yet, I'm hoping to start creating some. As someone who is in the midst of being screwed by SolarEdge, I'd consider myself a primary source, I was the case study who had my RMA held up for 2 months. I'd upload a screenshot of the inverter / battery error log showing unlabeled error codes, but that would be a screenshot of software which is not allowed.
Thanks. ARDKing (talk) 02:09, 29 September 2026 (UTC)

Is a news article a reliable secondary source? I can't imagine any books have been written on the topic yet. I don't want to go dig up some more sources for them to be shot down. What should I be looking for?
- Yes, a news article reporting on the complaints against the company would be a reliable source. ... discospinster talk 02:19, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
Traditional names
[edit]You mentioned traditional names are not used in Wikipedia. Not allowing traditional names for Aboriginal people reinforces loss of culture caused by colonisation. The importance of using traditional names is covered in the film (so as not to call the deceased's spirit back from the dead). The credit for the film uses the traditional name. Undeletion request for Draft: Scary unknow Wiki
[edit]Hello! I noticed that you recently deleted my draft, Draft:Scary unknow Wiki. I would like to continue working on this topic. This is Not a test page. Could you please restore the draft, move it to my sandbox or move it ("userfy" it) to my userspace at User:AzureYTStreams/Scary unknow Wiki so I can continue working on it? This is a work of fiction that I created on my own. I was only able to click a 'Publish' button which I read meant it was still not made public. I am meaning to save this as a draft, this work is not close to completion. Thank you for your time! ~~~~ AzureYTStreams (talk) 20:57, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- Hi there, the draft space and user space are for things that are directly related to Wikipedia, they are not a place to write stories. There are plenty of sites on the Internet where you can do this, such as Wattpad and Archive of Our Own. ... discospinster talk 21:31, 3 October 2026 (UTC)

Cooper Norcross Health page
[edit]Hi,
I noticed that you changed the Cooper University Hospital page title to Cooper Norcross Health (Cooper Norcross Health), which is not quite correct. Cooper University Hospital became Cooper Norcross University Hospital. It is just one part of the larger, multi-hospital Cooper Norcross Health (formerly Cooper University Health Care) system. As the content of the current page refers to only to the one Camden hospital, it should be renamed Cooper Norcross University Hospital -OR- the content should speak about the entire health system. For reference, this page contains information on the health system and its four hospitals: https://www.cooperhealth.org/about-us
I work in the Cooper Norcross Health Communications and Marketing Department, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you.
