By the way, just curious. When is Nuke needed?Enćenćecasïdća (talk) 18:06, 19 July 2026 (UTC)- I asked, "When is Nuke needed". Sorry if the initial question made you take time to answer. I hope you didn't begin to answer. I made a mistake. The user we're talking about only created one page, (I guess it can be called a creation). It was own Talk Page. Since it was not the case that more than one page was created, Nuke Contribs does not apply. I knew the underlying things. For a moment, however, I mistakenly thought they created more than one page. Sorry about the mess up. Enćenćecasïdća (talk) 18:21, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Verizon /28 block
[edit]Not sure if you saw my ANI message yet, but your /28 block still blocks editors from creating accounts. This range accounts for about 60% of Verizon users in the entire US. A bit too wide still? Thanks. CutlassCiera 20:33, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Requesting revdel of whole account for fresh start
[edit]Would it be possible to request a revdel of my entire account, including a full renaming, for a fresh start? I don't think this editor is ever going to stop, as they've been harassing, hounding, and trolling me for two years. –GM 02:39, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- That kind of thing isn't covered by policy - wholesale revdel simply isn't done, nor is regular deletion done under those circumstances. There are alternate means by which you can abandon an account and get a fresh start, which probably involve notifications to the Arbitration Committee. I haven't looked at those mechanisms for a long time. Acroterion (talk) 02:44, 31 July 2026 (UTC)

Why did you revert my edit
[edit]Especially the United States on the Ban on Nazi symbols was marked as Maybe, which means that it is only Illegal in Certain U.S. states, and not the Entire Country, especially as the States banning the Public display of Nazi symbols in the U.S. are New York, California and Virginia. Janajabsbsbndb26 (talk) 02:36, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
- How did you "fix" the entry? "Maybe" is not very helpful, it was better as a plain color code with the accompanying explanation. And your edit to Italy must be sourced. Acroterion (talk) 02:40, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
- It is because Maybe means it is banned in certain contexts or certain regions of a country depending on the country, for Example, Publicly displaying Nazi symbols are Legal in the Rest of the United States but it is Illegal in the States of California, New York and Virginia, and Italy's Holocaust denial laws needs to be fixed to be Maybe, because the Map shows Italy in Light red instead of Normal Red. Janajabsbsbndb26 (talk) 02:45, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
- And your source for the commentary you added to Italy is? Again, "maybe" is a poor choice of terminology for something that's legal in some regions or circumstances by not others. And please don't capitalize random words. Acroterion (talk) 02:48, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
- I would go farther and advise that the "exceptions" column is sufficient explanation, and changing colors for the sake of changing them is just confusing. The only exception is the US, where there are differences by region, and using the color code is better than using the "maybe" coding. Acroterion (talk) 02:54, 15 August 2026 (UTC)

Request regarding deleted Vision Concern draft
[edit]Hello Acroterion. I noticed that my User:Chaya panthi page was deleted on 15 August 2026 under G11. The deletion log shows that the page was created as an “initial draft of Vision Concern article.” I understand the concern about promotional content. I would like to ask whether the deleted draft can be restored temporarily or moved to Draft namespace so that it can be rewritten in a neutral, encyclopedic style with appropriate independent sources. If restoration is not appropriate, could you please advise me on the proper way to proceed with the draft? Thank you. Chaya panthi (talk) 05:53, 16 August 2026 (UTC)

Blocked on Guild Wars 2 Wiki
[edit]Hello I used to be able to access this wiki frequently and it has been a great help for the game - however I am now getting a kind of blank screen and having trouble seeing many pages. Here is my error :
MediaWiki Warning: An automated filter has identified this page view as potentially automated, so it has been blocked. Please report this error on the English Wikipedia; your access will be automatically restored. Once on the reporting page, click Publish Changes. You do not need to add any context as the process is automated. Report error
So I reported the error and publish even turn my wifi on and off and to no avail the website still thinks I'm a bot? Idk how to remedy this Tobias Stoneforge (talk) 03:19, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- See the comment above, somebody's been vandalizing non-WMF wikis. Acroterion (talk) 03:24, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- Ahh so perhaps something that will be resolved. I can assure you it is not myself. If there is some way for me to provide my ip or something to get off the list I would happily do so. I thought following the publish button error thing would do so but unfortunately not.
- Godspeed and thanks for such a quick reply! Tobias Stoneforge (talk) 03:28, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- It might not be quite so easy, since it appears to be vandalism to wikis that aren't under the control of the WMF, so they will have to sort it out on their own. But there's no call to ask you to provide any corroboration, and I would advise you not to give anyone any personal information. Acroterion (talk) 03:50, 30 August 2026 (UTC)

About blanking their user talk page and bypass the ClueBot NG warning

- (talk page watcher) Itsjuenyin Removing warnings from one's own talk page is not disallowed. If the user continues their behavior, you can issue them a higher level warning yourself. This user does appear to be a clear case of WP:NOTHERE, so I would probably issue a final warning for their next offense, then report them directly to WP:AIV as a vandalism-only account if it continues after the warning. - ZLEA TǀC 03:19, 12 September 2026 (UTC)

John F. Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories (again)
[edit]Hi Acroterion. Looks like we have another user removing tags w/o discussion. They also apparently did not feel inclined to respond to my note on their talk page. Per 3RR I can't revert them again. The level of pro-fringe activity and socking on this page is off the hook. Obviously I am INVOLVED, but I have long believed that it should be subject to ECP. -Ad Orientem (talk) 14:53, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- I saw some of what was going on and had the same thought. I've made it indefinite ECP, since I have no reason to believe that the issue would dissipate in a few months. Acroterion (talk) 16:53, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! Frankly the editor has been kind of setting off the lights on my sock detector. For a newish editor they clearly know their way around and have been heavily focused on pages relating to the Kennedy assassination. Hmmm... -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:03, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- For several years I was contending with a mostly-IP editor that I dubbed the UK Kennedy/Lincoln/Titanic IP LTA, who plagued related articles, along with some concerning the Halloween franchise. I still see some sporadic evidence that they're around, but I think they've grown up. The account doesn't share those characteristics, and no other candidates come to my mind so far. Acroterion (talk) 17:12, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, I don't have anyone specific in mind either. And I don't keep track of too many of the socks outside of the really pervasive LTA types. So in the absence of better evidence I am going to AGF and hope that they take the hint about their rather pushy behavior on the JFK page. LuckyLouie restored the maintenance tags and opened the 4372nd talk page discussion about the pro-Fringe nature of the page and the poor quality of its sources. -Ad Orientem (talk) 17:20, 17 September 2026 (UTC)

User:Mill-John's block
[edit]User:Mill-John's block
[edit]Hi,
I came across this from taking a peek at this talk page which had some suspicious activity on it, including archiving very recently active threads and collapsing things for being ai generated which didn't meet the criteria to do so. In any case, I see some contentious conversations with unproductive comments on both sides in that talk page, some less than stellar tone, but I don't see anything that would warrant permanently banning User:Mill-John. The reason for doing so seems extraordinarily thin, with no justification I can see attempted to show that a ban is appropriate. A temporary suspension is always an option, but a permanent ban was used. Why? This user's request for being unblocked seems reasonable, especially with regard to his promise to improve his tone.
The original block merely stating that "it appears that you are not here to build an encyclopedia" without specifying which indications of such existed.
Frankly I think these administrative actions have been completely out of scale with the behavior of the user in question, and I would like to ask that you correct this by unblocking said user with a warning about continued unpleasant behavior (which, frankly, he was also on the receiving end of, including disparaging remarks towards him and his beliefs, and the collapsing of his comments, which seems to me like harassment or bullying).
Fresheneesz (talk) 20:21, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- Well, I have trouble seeing how their very lengthy arguments concerning the intelligence of women, culminating in dubiously persuasive arguments like "shut your fucking mouth," and their singular focus on advancing the views of "scientific racist" Richard Lynn using LLM-generated arguments that always circled back specifically to Lynn do much to advance the encyclopedia. Perhaps you should review WP:FRINGE. Acroterion (talk) 20:34, 28 September 2026 (UTC)
- There is nothing in WP:FRINGE that calls for a permanent ban. And getting frustrated at users who disrespect other people's views, fringe or not, also does not call for a permanent ban. He should have been temporarily suspended to teach him a lesson, and should have been reinstated. People deserve second chances. I do not have to prove that Mill-John did "much to advance the encyclopedia" nor do I have to prove he was going to. The responsibility is on you, as an official administrator who decided to permanently ban him, to prove that such a ban was warranted. You put almost no effort into doing so. So I'm asking you to do that now. If you do not or can not, it is also your responsibility to unban that account. Your knee jerk behavior is unbecoming of a wikipedia administrator. Fresheneesz (talk) 03:16, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- They appear to have been here as a TA and an account to push Richard Lynn's fringe theories at extreme and repetitive length, with increasingly hostile responses to other editors, in an article and talkpages that are explicitly subject to conduct restrictions. There has been substantial disruption to the article, leading it to have to be protected. Bludgeoning discussions to shoehorn fringe views is disruptive editing, aggravated by apparent use of LLM. I assume you've read up on Lynn? No one thing might merit an indef, but taken together it's pretty clear-cut, and beyond what would or can be accomplished with a partial block or a termed block, or which merits infinite patience after Mill-John began treating other editors with evident contempt.. Multiple administrators and experienced editors were aware of events. I stand by my decision. If you wish for broader discussion, WP:AARV is the correct venue. Acroterion (talk) 03:51, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- What is a "TA"? Discussing what some consider "fringe views" is not against wikipedia policy and it is perfectly acceptable to disagree with others about what is "fringe" and make the case that its not fringe, regardless of current consensus. That is not a reason to sanction a user at all, much less permanently banning them. The disruption caused was quite minimal, limited almost entirely to the talk page. I believe the user made a single edit to the actual article and did not pursue any edit warring. The "disruption" was merely his tone. That seems quite clearly to be a poor reason to ban a new user. I see that you put in no effort into diffusing the situation or asking the user to correct their behavior. I see that you warned Mill-John literally 13 minutes before you permanently banned him. He had no chance to correct his behavior. And use of LLMs are not banned on wikipedia.
- I have not read up on Lynn to any significant degree. I did see he's written a number of published scientific papers. Regardless, I don't think its necessary for me to understand anything about Lynn for me to know that its not acceptable for an administrator to use someone's belief or defense in something considered "fringe" as a reason to ban that user.
- I completely disagree that a permanent ban is "clear cut". The use doesn't have a pattern of disruptive behavior as much as he has a single case of such. Only one reason is a justifiable reason for some sanction - the hostile tone. The other three are not justifications for sanctions (advocacy of a fringe theory, use of LLMs, and long talk page comments), only justification for education of the user. Your action seems quite clearly a case of biting a newb.
- "Multiple administrators and experienced editors were aware of events."
- To me this makes the case more concerning that multiple admins allowed such a clearly unreasonable permanent ban to take place. Wikipedia admin culture is really out of control. I will take this to AARV. Fresheneesz (talk) 20:08, 4 October 2026 (UTC)

Reversion in User talk:Almuir24
[edit]Hello! I'm Salmon of Knowledge. After being contacted on my talk page, I came across PremetheKing's edit to User talk:Almuir24, which seemed to have comprised the addition of an unintelligible sentence at the start of the page; a bot marked their unsigned addition, and you quickly reverted the latest edit. However, it looks like you reverted the bot's signing of their message instead of their message itself. I wasn't sure whether or not that was a mistake, so I thought I'd let you know about it in case it was. Thanks! Salmon of Knowledge (talk) 05:10, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- Yeah, damned Sinebot. And I've gotten the respiratory ailment that seems to be circulating, so I'm not very smart at times between coughing/breathing. Thanks for letting me know. Acroterion (talk) 11:03, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- Of course! I hope you recover soon. Salmon of Knowledge (talk) 02:00, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

- Following an RfC, the good article criteria have been amended to add accessibility requirements.
- Following an RfC, late signatures added to administrator recall petitions after 720 hours from opening are reverted or struck and do not count towards the threshold, even if the petition has not yet been formally closed.
- The post-May 2026 administrator elections RfCs concluded with consensus for election monitors to curate blatantly inappropriate questions after posting, and to remove or merge true duplicates, clearly marking merged questions. Calls for candidates will include advisory guidance that users with less than one year’s experience or 5,000 edits generally lack a realistic chance of success.
- Interface administrators no longer need to specify the
ResourceLoaderoption in the definitions for gadgets on MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition as gadgets are always loaded throughResourceLoader. (T298199) - The
list=abusefiltersAPI module now supportsformatversion=2and includes breaking changes to its responses. In particular, theactionsproperty is now a JSON array rather than a string, regardless of the format version.
