  • @EmergentAnarchy: I take, will review in the next 48 hours. I may take you up on 'feel free to suggest other hooks'. Out of interest, do you have any plans to take any other One Direction members through GA?--Launchballer 11:11, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
    • I might nominate Niall's at some point, but it's not ready yet. Possibly Liam's as well, if Niall's gets through. The other two are already GAs EmergentAnarchy (talk) 11:16, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
@EmergentAnarchy: The reason I asked is that I attempted to bring Building the Band here last year, but it was rejected. I've since had the idea to run a quadruple hook involving Liam, that show, 3Quency, and Brianna Mazzola (there's a draft in someone else's userspace I expanded). That would of course involve me cleaning up quite a lot of mess at the show's article. But that's by the by.
Long enough, new enough. QPQ's fine. I'm very sorry to say I would have quickfailed this at GA on sourcing grounds; any source that doesn't mention Malik by name, or WP:VENDORs/social media used for prose, or chart publishers for their own charts (which of course they're going to write about) all deserve inline tags. There's a few other dodgy sources as well; I see AllMusic, the Evening Standard, Forbes Contributor pieces, unbylined churnalism pieces from Business Standard, and International Business Times. Quite a lot of work needed to bring this to snuff, but there's plenty of time. Let me know when these have been removed and we'll talk hooks. Also, Earwig's giving some quite high scores, but it would do with an article of this age, and I'll interrogate it another time.--Launchballer 20:38, 13 August 2026 (UTC)
I've removed all music, forbes, and international business times from prose. They were almost all used alongside other sources. the evening standard citation is an interview, so i think it's ok as a primary source. Which other sources need removing? EmergentAnarchy (talk) 17:15, 14 August 2026 (UTC)
Fair point regarding the Evening Standard source. From this revision:
  • 8, 15, 182, 194 (unbylined churnalism pieces)
  • Most of the sources between refs 21 and 52 (essentially an article about a bandmember should use sources about that bandmember, even for sections about his time in that band, because those that don't can go in the band's article. Basically, I'm saying this section probably has too much detail, although feel free to surprise me.)
  • 54, 132, 157, 234 (not seeing what makes them reliable)
  • 75, 78, 90, 105, 114, 119, 164, 165, 178, 214 (surely independent sources are available for these claims)
  • 95, 130, 131, 148 (you will notice that the charts mentioned in Lola Young and Kim Petras are cited entirely to secondary sources and I think this should as well; same for critical reception)
Apologies if this seems like a lot of work, but it's work that you should have been asked to do at the GA review.--Launchballer 11:54, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
So far I've removed 8, 15, 182, and 194. I've left the ones in the one direction section - it's really more of a summary of that article, which other members have. I've replaced 54, and removed 157. 132 is simply citing a date which i don't think anyone is going to dispute. 234 has a picture but i can remove if you want. Will take at look at the others EmergentAnarchy (talk) 12:51, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
I've replaced more of them, I think everything left is acceptable per primary sourcing policies. Some of the remaining ones are only citing a precise release date, which i think is ok when there's also a news article cited. Others are also backed up by a second source for the same statement. The article on I Don't Wanna Live Forever only cites billboard and other primary sources for chart details, and that's a GA. 148 is Metacritic, which is reliable per WP:METACRITIC EmergentAnarchy (talk) 14:38, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
@Launchballer: pinging for a response on this EmergentAnarchy (talk) 20:51, 26 August 2026 (UTC)
Apologies for dropping this. I'm fine with most of the remaining sourcing; I'm not happy with the charts but I think that might be getting into IDONTLIKEIT territory (UK and US chart data almost always makes somewhere, so is probably due), so I'll take it. I need longer to decide what to do about the "most [...] between refs 21 and 52" point.--Launchballer 13:08, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
Feel free to cut it down a bit,it is a little longer than on some other member's articles EmergentAnarchy (talk) 21:25, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
Sorry to keep you waiting. I've cut most of that section and would like someone else to sign this off.--Launchballer 02:32, 21 September 2026 (UTC)
Surprising dearth of images in that article. QPQ done, as a GA it's long enough. Earwig is pulling up matches, but at a couple of checks they read as more likely copies of us than vice versa. Some parts of the article are a bit WP:Proseline, but that is not a DYK issue. What is a DYK issue is unsourced sections. Awards and nominations might be fine as it has no content to source (but then shouldn't the links be in See also?), however Discography and Residencies and tours though could use some simple sourcing.
On hooks, I'm not too sold on the current ones. ALT1 is a superlative with a couple of restrictions. ALT0 is the best of the three, but I would be interested to hear other ideas. CMD (talk) 04:37, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
the albums and tours are already cited in prose, so i didn't think it needed another citation EmergentAnarchy (talk) 08:59, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
Perfectly acceptable to simply duplicate the citation rather than finding another one. CMD (talk) 10:51, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
I've duplicated some existing citations. Btw the dearth of images is mostly because he didn't tour for like nine years. I did try to find some pictures before nominating as a GA. EmergentAnarchy (talk) 13:36, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
Images are not a DYK issue, it's just surprising. I'm approving ALT0, as I suspect many would find interest in that, although I'm happy to be pinged for other options. CMD (talk) 00:58, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
