Maman Sani Maigochi

  • ... that a Nigerien Army sergeant is also a musician who became prominent for performing pro-military music following the 2023 Nigerien coup d'état?
  • Source: "Maigochi became prominent after the 2023 Nigerien coup d'état. His music incorporates traditional Nigerien sounds and instruments, including the douma, kalangou and gourmi. He has described his goal as using music to encourage and energize soldiers and civilians." from the article

Overall: I would also use a primary source unrelated to either side of the coup d'état. New York Times is in general a good secondary source, but politically, their information (often left-leaning) should be coupled with other sources. One closer/primary (African for here) source covering this has a paywall, but I will still link it here for reference! Unsurprising (talk) 15:52, 19 September 2026 (UTC)
