Date, size, ref, copyvio, all good. QPQ not needed. Unfortunately, I don't find the hook interesting to general audiences, and it also seems very sport-jargon heavy. See WP:DYKINTEREST. Can you propose a hook that is of interest to an average reader, i.e. someone with little knowledge of baseball? If you disagree, you are welcome to ask for 2nd opinion at WT:DYK. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 04:12, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
@Piotrus: Actually the sport is cricket, not baseball, but I agree that the hook is too specialist for non-sports audiences. I just took a look at the article and tried to find something else that could be used. The article says that there was a draft instead of an auction, but I think that is specialist knowledge for those who don't know that T20 cricket leagues usually use player auctions instead of US-style player drafts. @Ravana: Do you have any other hook ideas? @Narutolovehinata5: As someone who doesn't know much about sports, I do actually find the fact that they can have drafts or auctions somewhat interesting, so there's potential in this, I think. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 01:01, 9 October 2026 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that after being acquired by a US-based investor, the franchise selected its roster for the 2026 Kandy Royals season through a player draft rather than a traditional auction?
@Piotrus: Good point! "Franchise" is standard terminology in T20 leagues (like the LPL/IPL) and North American sports, but to keep the phrasing completely accessible to general readers without any corporate or jargon confusion, how about this?
ALT2: ... that after being acquired by a US-based investor, the Kandy Royals cricket team selected its roster for the 2026 Kandy Royals season through a player draft rather than a traditional auction?
Overall: Approving only ALT2a: ... that after being acquired by a US-based investor, the Kandy Royals cricket team selected its 2026 roster through a player draft rather than a traditional auction? ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 23:54, 24 October 2026 (UTC)
