Oh yeah, i'm ready to TWIST this review a new METAL... like four times or something...

Ok, In complelty serious terms, i'm gonna start reviewing this some time within the next two hours Ada, so look forward to that. COOPER COOL 23 user page 15:25, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Went and read it through, so now I have some suggestions for you. A source review via Earwig will come later likely on Thursday or Friday at my earliest convenience or when I find the time on those days to do it.

Lede

[edit]
  • The ending of the first sentence could end something like this: "...for the PlayStation exclusively in North America.". You can remove or keep the "exclusively" part of my example as you see fit.
  • "The game was released in North America on November 16, 1999, followed by a Greatest Hits edition in 2000." - First off, the 1999 date shouldn't be here since its mention in the first sentence, and secondly the Greatest Hits edition is never mentioned in the body so it can be axed.
    • Note that because of the prior two suggestions, the first and second paragraphes would need to be merged together as one, since the first in this instance would be two sentences long.
Done, but I'm gonna have to disagree with combining the first two paragraphs. I structured it this way because it sums up distinct parts of the article:
    • First para: identify the game, developer/publisher, platform, region, place in the series
    • Second para: gameplay and premise
    • Third para: compact production summary
    • Fourth para: reception, sales, what followed afterwards
First and third are short, yes, but again, this is for summing up distinct parts of the article. AdaCiccone (talk) 14:35, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Totally fair. COOPER COOL 23 user page 12:35, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Second mention of Twisted Metal III could be replaced with "its predecessor", since said predecessor was already named and it reads a tad awkwardly mentioning the full name twice.
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 14:35, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Include in the last paragraph a sentence about Twisted Metal Black, as its the next mainline game and marks a reboot of the franchise. I believe this sentence would work well either coming out of the sentence about low sales figures or potentially replacing said sentence.
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 14:35, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Gameplay

[edit]
  • Image Caption: "A player controlling Quatro..." - Its already implied that a player would be controlling the vehicle/character
    • Also, make it so that the character's name lines up with their vehicle so that it reads something like: "Quatro's [insert vehicle name here] engages an opposing vehicle, The Joneses [insert vehicle name here], with missiles"
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 13:59, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • "The single-player Tournament mode consists of an eight-level tournament..." Ah yes, I do love to book my book (obviously, not trying to sound mean when I type that). Replace the second instance with competition or something else of the like.
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 13:59, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • "The final boss is Sweet Tooth, who has seized control of the tournament from the previous organizer, Calypso." - Weird that this is here, considering the plot section mentions that fact already in the body
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 13:59, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • The second and third paragraphes can be easily merged, since the definition of "characters" and "vehicles" in this instance mean essentially the same thing. Because of this, it might be best to revise them in the one paragraph state so that it reads better.
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 13:59, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • "...including the bosses and Sweet Tooth himself..." cut the bolded part from this since Sweet Tooth is a part of the bosses.
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 13:59, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • "...by pressing a shoulder button." can be cut.
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 13:59, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • "...by inputting sequences in the directional pad" d-pad can be hyperlinked or cut in a similar manner to the shoulder button mention.
Done. I removed it instead so not to become too detailed. AdaCiccone (talk) 13:59, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • "...including a magnet in the Construction Yard that lifts vehicles before dropping them and a train that runs through Neon City." --> "...including a magnet that lifts vehicles before dropping them and a train." - best not to mention specific level names here.
Done. Names of the levels are removed. AdaCiccone (talk) 13:59, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Plot

[edit]
  • Is there a place where an efn of "as depicted in [insert Twisted Metal game here] (199x)" would be applicable in terms of a reader's context with this section? I know I, as a complete stranger to this series, have no clue if any of these Calypso or Sweet Tooth shinanigans have happened in previous games or where they even might've happened in.
Done. I explained in an efn that the first three games have similar premise: Calypso as the organizer and Sweet Tooth as contestant. AdaCiccone (talk) 08:53, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • "...and the ring now held by Sweet Tooth." So the souls are in this ring? Best to mention that earlier to avoid context whiplash.
Done. Mentioned earlier. AdaCiccone (talk) 08:53, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Development and release

[edit]
  • Noticing a ton of two sentence paragraphs. Specifically, paragraphes 1, 2, 3, and 5; with 5 being one sentence long. In other words try rewriting the section, and maybe include some of the ref ideas from the talk page while you're doing that.
Done. The ref included from the talk is the Retro Gamer. Also, the section isn't majorly rewritten, just have the sentences rearranged. AdaCiccone (talk) 08:29, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Reception

[edit]
  • Remove GameRevolution and PSExtreme from Reception box, as they have unstandardized rating systems for that template (letter and x% respectively as opposed to x/x) and are still mentioned in the sections body
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 11:36, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
 Done. AdaCiccone (talk) 11:36, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

That's all I have for now, so get nuts. COOPER COOL 23 user page 17:00, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hey thanks for taking the time to review this. I'll respond to all of the above when I have time. Hopefully soon. :D AdaCiccone (talk) 14:13, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@CooperCool23 Okay, I've done all your comments. Please have a look. And thanks again for reviewing this. :D AdaCiccone (talk) 14:37, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
No problem Ada! Just checked Earwig and its biggest number was a 5.7% similarity from bot the Gamespot review (which like, considering how much its used makes sense) and AllGame (ditto) so i'd say this is good for a pass.
One random note before I go, were you thinking of making a dyk nom for this game? 'Cause I was just thinking that mentioning how Rob Zombie is a playable character in this game (after mentioning how he contributed music for the game, obviously) would be a great idea for it! COOPER COOL 23 user page 12:35, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for passing this! And yes, on DYK, I think that particular fact is very interesting but sorry, I think I'll pass because I'm currently working on another article. I'd rather let someone else take this one. AdaCiccone (talk) 16:12, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
