English pronunciation

I have tried to remove the addition of the English pronunciation but I was reverted twice. WP:LEADPRON is clear: “If the name of the article has a pronunciation that is not apparent from its spelling, include its pronunciation in parentheses after the first occurrence of the name. […] Do not include in the text of the lead sentence pronunciations for names of locations that are associated with non-English languages but whose pronunciations are well known in English (e.g., Poland, Paris).” There isn’t really much else to discuss but here’s the thing, before I end up in an edit war. ~ IvanScrooge98 (talk) 18:36, 2 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Well what's required for a pronunciation example, the English or the German one? The spelling is the same here, but the pronunciation is not. I suspect it's the English pronunciation, and in that case no example is needed as... it's an English word. Kind regards, Grueslayer 10:08, 4 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hi all —

I’ve added the {{Main}} and {{Summary style}} templates to the History section because much of the material duplicates what is already covered in detail in the dedicated article, History of Hamburg. This is fully in line with WP:SUMMARYSTYLE and does not change any existing content.

The goal is simply to flag that the section may benefit from future trimming and consolidation. No prose or sourcing changes were made.

Proposed boroughs summary consolidation

Hello! I’ve drafted a small cleanup to the “Boroughs” section using standard summary-style.

The main Hamburg page currently includes a long, detailed breakdown of every borough and its quarters, much of which is already fully covered in the subarticle (Boroughs and quarters of Hamburg). To make the main page more navigable, I’ve created a concise summary in my user sandbox that:

preserves all existing content and sourcing in the subarticle
keeps the Main link intact
alphabetizes the borough list for readability (no content change)
removes nothing from the subarticle
