Dymer (Ukrainian: Димер, Ukrainian pronunciation: [ˈdɪmer]; Russian: Дымер) is a rural settlement in Vyshhorod Raion of Kyiv Oblast (province) of Ukraine with a population of 5,592 (2022 estimate)[1] It hosts the administration of Dymer settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine.[2]
Geography
[edit]Dymer is located on the Irpin river, 12 km from its confluence with the Dnieper.[3]
History
[edit]During Soviet times Dymer served as a district centre of Kyiv Oblast.[3]
Clashes occurred here during the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine,[4] when Ukrainian airborne assault troops engaged Russian soldiers at Ivankiv and Dymer.[5][6][7][8][9]
Until 26 January 2024, Dymer was designated urban-type settlement. On this day, a new law entered into force which abolished this status, and Dymer became a rural settlement.[10]
Economy
[edit]Dymer is a centre of forest industry.[3]
