[edit]- 31 March – Parliament unanimously passes a constitutional amendment to extend the parliamentary term from 3 to 4 years after the amendment failed to pass via referendum in October 2025.[1]
- 16 April – Lionel Aingimea is sworn in as the first Vice President of Nauru.[2]
- 13 May – The Parliament of Nauru passes a constitutional amendment to change the name of the country to Naoero.[3]
- 30 July – The Nauruan government revokes its recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.[4]
- 3 August – Nauru changes its official name to the Republic of Naoero, which matches the spelling and pronunciation of the Nauruan language.[5]
- 7 September – Nauru inaugurates its first Israeli embassy in Jerusalem.[6]
