Co-Writer

Co-Writer is a Markdown workspace for notes, reports, tutorials, and study drafts. Select a passage for a surgical edit, or run Rewrite, Shorten, Expand, and Auto Mark across the full draft. AI results replace the affected content immediately; Undo restores the prior version when you want it back.

Open Co-Writer from the left sidebar (or visit /co-writer). The landing page lists your drafts; create one with New draft, start from From template, or use Import Word to convert a .docx into a draft.

Open a draft to get a split workspace: the Markdown source on the left, a live preview on the right. Math renders with KaTeX, and diagram fences render as diagrams, so the preview is a faithful picture of the finished document as you type.

ControlWhat it does
Editor / PreviewWrite Markdown on the left; see headings, bold, tables, code, math, and diagrams rendered on the right.
Sync ScrollKeep both panes aligned as you scroll.
Export Markdown / WordDownload the current draft as Markdown or .docx.
Save to NotebookCopy the current draft into a reusable notebook.
Full DraftOpen whole-document Rewrite, Shorten, Expand, and Auto Mark actions.

Select text for Rewrite, Expand, or Shorten. The request carries the selection, instruction, mode, model choice, retrieval tools, and optional KB name — never the surrounding draft. The model selector also applies to Full Draft and Auto Mark; KB or web results can ground edits. Co-Writer is useful for:

  • tightening an explanation without changing section structure,
  • expanding bullets into teaching prose,
  • shortening a draft before a notebook save,
  • grounding a claim in a KB or web source.

Full Draft runs those actions across the document; Auto Mark annotates it. Selection and full-draft results apply immediately, so review in place and use Undo when needed.

  1. Draft roughly in Markdown.
  2. Select a passage, or open Full Draft for a document-wide pass.
  3. Run Rewrite, Expand, or Shorten, optionally grounded by a KB or the web; Auto Mark annotates the full draft.
  4. Review the applied result and use Undo if needed.
  5. Export as Markdown / Word, or save the result into a Notebook.

Co-Writer documents live under the active user workspace, so multi-user deployments keep each user’s drafts isolated. Partners can use notebook/skill resources copied from a user’s library, but they do not edit a user’s Co-Writer drafts.
