Unemployment in Pakistan

Unemployment in Pakistan

English Essay on "Unemployment in Pakistan"

Unemployment is a problem which has hit every country but is very acute in Pakistan. In every house in Pakistan one will find one or more graduates who are unemployed. The problem is more acute in Karachi, Hyderabad and cities like Lahore for various reasons.
The first reason for unemployment is that the birth rate is far more than needed and it out runs the rate of economic development. The greater efforts of the government towards family planning have failed due to lack of intensive drive opposition of Mullas, and the belief of the people that God, who feeds the children in wombs will also feed them after birth. In fact, things have not been done so far to let Islam meet the challenges of the modern world. Our present educational system is also responsible for the present state of un-employment.
It produces only clerks who seek white collar Jobs and to provide such jobs in such a member is impossible. In our educational system higher education is available to every man irrespective of his aptitude. Vocational education is not given to the students. The technical colleges and schools are not producing engineers and technician of any worth. There students are not given extensive practical training in various engineering units and commercial workshops.

Pakistan Indian Relations

Pakistan Indian Relations

Pakistan and India with Bangladesh share a history of Hindu. Muslim and English rule of hundreds of years. After Pakistan and India became independent in 1947, it was expected that the two countries would live in peace and progress economically, scientifically and culturally to each other's benefit. But, unfortunately, the Indian leadership conspired with the Maharaja of Kashmir who, against the wishes of the Kashmiris, joined India. The Kashmiris rose in arms against this decision, and as they were actively helped by Pakistan militarily, the struggle turned into a freedom war India was forced to take the Kashmir issue to the UN which decided in favor of the Kashmiris for a direct voting.4essay.blogspot.com

The second war took place in 1965 when the Kashmiri, freedom fighters started an armed struggle against the Indian forces in Kashmir. India could not face the force of the struggle in Kashmir, and so attacked Pakistan which was helping the Kashmiris. After three weeks of fierce fighting, the problem of Kashmir remained unresolved.4essay.blogspot.com

In addition to stepping up its anti Kashmir activities in the West, India started interfering in the internal politics of East Pakistan. If provided aid and arms to the East Pakistan leaders which resulted in separation of East Pakistan.4essay.blogspot.com

Pakistan tried her best to settle the Kashmir problem with India through direct discussions according to the United Nations resolutions, but India continued to declare that Kashmir was her internal problem and that Kashmir was its integral part. Through travel and trade between the two countries were restored after the Simla Agreement, relations between them could never be termed friendly. Rising military expenditures continued to strain the budgets of the two countries and their economic condition.4essay.blogspot.com

Three major developments in India and Kashmir were to further worsen their relations. Firstly, India developed an atomic device and exploded it in Rajasthan in 1974. This proved that she was an atomic power and could be a great threat to Pakistan. On the other hand; Pakistan's nuclear programme remained peaceful and constructive.

Secondly, the brave Kashmiri freedom fighters organized and started a highly powerful armed struggle against India in 1989, The Indian forces killed thousands of Kashmiris, destroyed their properties and forced many to lake refuge in Azad Kashmir. Pakistan protested strongly against all this cruelty, but India wrongly blamed her for helping the Kashmiris.

Thirdly, the Indian government intentionally did not check the narrow minded Hindus from puling down the historic Babari Mosque in Ayodhiya in 1992. Thousands of Muslims were killed in India and many mosques pulled down. So were many temples demolished in Pakistan.

To improve Pak - India relations, both the countries should take certain steps: First, settle the Kashmir problem to the satisfaction of the Kashmiri people Second, stop the mad arm race between the two countries. Third, establish healthy trade and cultural links between the two countries. It is in the interest of the people of the two countries to live in friendship and peace. The present situation demands a quick rather urgent end to the most painful and dangerous disputes between the two countries. Soon after the settlement of these disputes, especially the Kashmir dispute, they can sign a non-war pact. Which will bring peace and happiness to both the countries.

The Place of English in Pakistan

The Place of English in Pakistan

English may be a foreign language, but it is international in its significance. It is rightly taken as the lingua franca, the common language, for all parts of the world today. There is every reason to learn and use it all over our country.

Let us discuss the usefulness and importance of the English language. Firstly, it is spoken, read or understood in most parts of the world. Wherever you may go, in Europe, Asia, and Africa or in the America, in Australia or the North or South Poles you will find someone or the other communicating with you in English.

English is truly the language of science and technology. All the latest inventions and developments in science are to be found well explained into English books. Libraries and bookshops are full of valuable textbooks and reference books in English on all the sciences. Then translations of science books in English from other languages are continuously pouring in and are being made available everywhere. English offers us treasures of knowledge in all the social sciences like history, political science economics, archaeology, anthropology, sociology, philosophy and psychology and all the fine arts.4essay.blogspot.com

In the fourth place, modern medicine and surgery, developed from worldwide studies and researches in different countries and languages, now make a tremendous storehouse of medical knowledge available in English.

English is truly a language of business, commerce and banking. It is possible for anyone in any country or corner of the world to correspond and trade internationally in English.
Religious and spiritual writings and translations in English are in plenty. All the holy books including the Holy Quran and the Bible with diverse translations and commentaries find their pride of place in the section of religious books in any good library or book gallery.4essay.blogspot.com

English, then, enshrines (keeps in it) the best of what has been thought and written in the world. Just as all positive knowledge is power, English is power today. Considering the importance and usefulness of English in our personal and national life, it will be suicidal to make it an optional subject lay less stress on it in our education system. Rather its studies should be regularized and promoted at all levels throughout the country. English, the window on the world, should remain our main national language to move alongside the advanced countries.

Life in a Big City - Life In Karachi

Life In Karachi
Life in a Big City

Karachi is the biggest city in Pakistan and also one of the most thickly populated cities in the world. Its population has increased rapidly and accordingly has given rise to many social problems. People of this metropolis are becoming more and more concerned about solving these serious problems, some of which are discussed below.

The ever increasing rush of heavy traffic on the roads is resulting in heavy loss of human life. One day or the other, people suffer form accidents due to reckless driving. Some lose their vehicles and some go to the police. This is due to lack of civic sense in the citizens and violation of traffic rules. Traffic jams, road quarrels, untidiness and damage of public property is also a result of this problem. The government has not done any planning to control this situation in the past two decades.4essay.blogspot.com

In the same manner, the government has never emphasized upon population distribution. As a result, slum areas are rapidly being built, where poor labour lives. The disordered development of small houses is spoiling the outlook of the city, as well as creating problems of illegal electric connections, water supply and pollution. The authorities have failed to reclaim the locations from these people.

The academic career of children in Karachi is unpredictable due to lack of good schools and institutions. The need of recreational institutions, parks and play grounds is also felt at times and most of all joblessness creates problems for poor people.

Another problem faced by the citizens of the city is the frequent power breakdowns. Every other day, K.E.S.C cuts down the electric supply without notice. This becomes a great hurdle for industries and professional that use electric machinery for their work. Disturbance and shortage of water supply is also a cause of discomfort among the citizens. Sometimes, the dirty and unfiltered water becomes a major factor in food poisoning, which usually takes place on festive occasions, when demand of water in the city increases. Any measure to improve the supply of filtered water has also not been adopted by the government. Problems due to improper drainage system are also becoming a matter of concern among the people. The alarming increase in the disorderliness of drainage lines is posing serious threats for people, especially in poor areas. Filth and dirt runs down a channel by the footpath and children play over it. We have malaria, cholera and dysentery still destroying our children because such things exist.4essay.blogspot.com

The attitude of beggars in Karachi is the most irritating problem. They are worthless idlers robbing good natural people. It has become their regular practice to crowd public spots and cheat people. The adverse effects of begging problem are noticeable in sum areas.

There are too many dirty and ownerless dogs roaming about in the streets of Karachi. They spread many diseases and sometime become a danger by injuring people.

Lack of environmental care among people and drivers of public service vehicles is giving rise to pollution problems. Dust fills the air in most of the roads all the time. Improper turned cars fill the atmosphere with deadly smoke at hours of rush, which causes disease among the policemen and common public. The blowing of pressure horns is always there, deafening the ears.4essay.blogspot.com

Karachi is also often subjected to terrorist activities. Bomb blasts and firings at public spots are resulting in great loss of human life. The terrorists deserve no less than capital punishment. It is the duty of the police to intensify their investigation to stop such activities.

For the well to do class, life in Karachi may be fascinating, but for other citizens it is a center of drawbacks. It is only through the concentrated efforts of each and every person, including the members of law enforcing and administrative agencies, can we overcome these serious problems of the metropolis.

Patriotism

Patriotism

Patriotism means love and regard for the country. It is a natural instinct that men loves the place where he gets birth and where he is brought up. It is one of the noblest passions of human nature. The love of country is natural and essential for everyone. Man is a social animal. He cannot live alone. He needs the assistance of other human beings. So the people belonging to one country are brothers and they work for the collective interest of the country. They struggle to flourish their country. The man, who works against the interest of his country, is traitor and he does not deserve any sympathy.4essay.blogspot.com

The only way to serve Pakistan is that we must be sincere without country. We must keep our personal interest behind and we must give supreme importance to the demands of our freedom. Country is not just a piece of land. It is not only the collection of mountains, rivers and valleys. It is the heritage of our dreams, aspirations, culture, traditions and our great religion. We love Pakistan because it is the centre of our hopes and future dreams. It is the land of our following generation. We must try to make it strong and undefeatable castle of Islam.4essay.blogspot.com

Patriotism is an active virtue. The real love urges man to do everything in his power for the welfare of his country. It makes him perform his duties honestly and devotedly. Patriotism makes him a good citizen, who is always ready to serve his nation with best of his talents. A good citizen is always ready to give sacrifices for his nation. Patriotism is a sacred passion, which makes the nation really strong and honorable. It is our duty to keep this passion alive in our hearts.

The great wars of the world were won only because of the extreme sense of Patriotism. Only those nations in the world survive and distinguish themselves, whose citizens keep a high and a very positive sense of Patriotism. Pakistan can become a really strong country, when the people of Pakistan are patriots in the real sense of the world. Give you love to your country and it will give you all the blessings.

How to Have Cheaper Electricity - load shedding - Power Crisis

How to Have Cheaper Electricity
(Power Crisis)

Modern life will surely be impossible without electric energy. We need it almost every where in our homes, in the shops, in the factories, on the farms, on the roads and in all public places. For some years now we have been trying to solve our electricity problem. The long hours of load shedding for industry and agriculture contributed to decline in national production and caused untold hardships to the people at large. Let us study the main causes of the crisis that is not over yet.4essay.blogspot.com

The water level in the dams like the Tarbela, Mangla, and Warsak is at times very low. Because of it the generation of hydroelectric power suffers a great deal. Then we have not constructed until now as many dams as we need, for example, the Kalahagh Dam, the Bhasha Dam in the northern areas on the Indus and certain other such possible dams could have eased the present difficult situation of power generation in the country. We do not have enough facilities for the generation of thermal power. The setting up of thermal power stations is highly expensive for a developing country like ours. Our efforts to set up such power stations with the IPPs (Independent Power Producers) skyrocketed electricity rates and brought the Wapda to the brink of bankruptcy.

We do not have enough nuclear power stations because of our dependence on hydroelectric power and lack of equipment and materials. The nuclear power station at Karachi the KANUPP (the Karachi Nuclear Power Plant) has, however, worked well and gives us hopes of having such, stations around the country. The Chashma Power Plant, planned in 1993 to be set up in the Frontier province, should have improved the power situation a great deal.

New industries continue to be set up and agriculture continues to be mechanized. Factories in the industrial centres and tube-wells and power-operated farm machinery need electricity most of the time. Its shortage and repeated load shedding affect production badly.4essay.blogspot.com

Rich families, business establishments and offices use air conditioners in the summer and electric heaters in the winter. This is a serious stain on our energy resources. It will be in national interest to reduce the use of these electric appliances.

We should increase power production in all possible ways. There is the need to store in the dams the water of our rivers, rain water and water from melted ice flowing along natural channels as much as possible. There can be more dams for this purpose. Then hydro electricity could be produced perhaps more than we need and could be exported as well. We should set up thermal power stations whenever needed, but on our own and generate electricity at reasonable expense.

ECONOMICS CRISIS OF PAKISTAN

ECONOMICS CRISIS OF PAKISTAN

At present the sorry state of the economy, tops the problems facing the country. Seeing the horrible economic distress, some still suggest restoring to the begging bowl and further subjugation of donor agencies as the only solution to it. Such an approach can not provide a way out; it aggravates the situation and amount to commit suicide. Therefore, the present leadership has realized that there is not option but to reshape the economic strategy altogether.

The economy of Pakistan has fallen up to this extent that it requires serious attention and endeavor to revive its state. The revival of economy means to bring the economy on track whereby country becomes self sufficient and economy self sustained to meet its internal demands and fulfill foreign obligations. Sustained economy provides a balance in trade, potential of paying back foreign loans and gradual growth in gross domestic and national product. Rise in foreign exchange reserves, minimum inflation rate, strong local currency are a few indicators of a sustained economy whereas better social indicators reflect its civic effects.

Developed economies are movers, developing economies are the followers and the underdeveloped economies have no say in the scheme of things. All economic conditions are the certain result of policies. No economy can itself produce positive results. It is the people and their actions which steer the effects. The economy of Pakistan was not doomed for disaster. It has become the victim of eccentric policies of our past rulers. It has been mismanaged up to this extent that the country has virtually become bankrupt and made to dance on the tunes of donor agencies as Pakistan has bartered its freedom with them.

For the last thirteen years there has been no noticeable addition to basic industries and the economic infrastructure of the country. Instead the number of sick industrial units increases each year. The public sector is shrinking and suffering losses. Although agriculture has helped the nation to survive but the sector itself is faced with crises. In regard to oil, retrogression has set in after a good progress. After attaining one third self sufficiency in the country’s oil requirements, advancing steps have been retracted and the annual import of oil has increased. Exports could not be enhanced despite repeated devaluation of the rupee.

External debt are touching new heights and the irony is that new loans are obtained simply to pay back a portion of the earlier loans.

According to the genesis of the present situation the deterioration in economic activity is mainly caused by weak performance of large scale industry, erratic behavior of agriculture, decline in real investment, macro economic instability that includes large fiscal deficit, large bank barrowing, using interest payments on domestic debts double digit inflation and personal aggrandizement.

The economic situation of Pakistan at the time of independence was also very bleak but it improved over the years. Its economic policies were exemplary and countries like Korea had learned the tricks of economics from Pakistan in 60’s, while Pakistan revived meager financial resources at the time of independence, it was deprived of Kashmir. Ever since, the Kashmir issue has been haunting Pakistan for which Pakistan has fought several wars with India and each war had its price paid by Pakistan. It had to maintain a large armed forces causing huge burden on economy.
