Different Types of Slime

Slime comes in many forms and textures, perfect for stress relief, sensory engagement, or good ol’ play. Slime expert Amy Sheree shares that clear, foam, snow fizz, and butter slimes are among the most popular, with icee and beaded slimes being especially trendy in recent years.[1] Here’s a quick overview of the different types of slime for kids and adults:

  • Avalanche Slime: A combination of clear slime and colored glossy slime.
  • Beaded Slime: A slime filled with tons of beads or charms for crunch and texture.
  • Bingsu Slime: A clear or butter slime base filled with bingsu beads (iridescent beads that trap and hold air).
  • Butter Slime: A soft, moldable, spreadable slime with a creamy, non-sticky feel.
  • Clay Slime: A clear or glossy slime with clay, creating a soft, smooth, and stretchy texture.
  • Clear Slime: A transparent, gel-like slime that’s stretchy, glossy, and smooth.
  • Cloud Slime: A fluffy, drizzly, silky slime made from white glue and instant snow.
  • Floam/Foam Slime: A clear or glossy slime base filled with styrofoam beads.
  • Float Slime: A combination of clear slime on the bottom and cloud slime layered on top.
  • Fluffy Slime: A light, fluffy, almost foam-like slime. Sheree says the key ingredient in it is shaving cream.[2]
  • Glossy Slime: A smooth, thick, and stretchy slime made with white glue.
  • Icee Slime: A wet, soft, and sizzly slime with a slushy-like texture.
  • Jelly Slime: A thick, bouncy, and jam-like slime with a frosted gummy candy appearance. Slime expert Liz Park says it’s similar to icee slime since it uses hydrated instant snow.[3]
  • Perlite Slime: A slime filled with perlite (small white rocks made from volcanic glass).
  • Slay Slime: A fluffy, stretchy, and creamy slime, described as a cross between a butter and glossy slime.
  • Slushee Slime: A clear or white glue slime containing “slushee beads,” which are special plastic pellets.
  • Snow Fizz Slime: A sizzly, drizzly, crunchy slime with a sandy texture.
