Using an external mini PC called the Ultimate Vectrex Multicart 2 to actually run and render a custom version of Doom, modder Jason Kopp managed to get the shooter playable through the Vectrex’s unique vector-based display. It’s a much simpler take on Doom, but one that’s no less creepy.

“We’ve been able to increase our supply as we’ve gone through 2026,” CEO Lisa Su said today, “and we’re going to substantially increase our supply in 2027.”
Like Nvidia, AMD has seen a boom in GPU demand driven by AI, signing big deals with Meta, Anthropic, and OpenAI, and suffering the same shortages as the rest of the industry.

BougeRV’s DuneRover is so good on hills and sand that you’ll forgive the disco lights.
Audio Balance and Mono Audio, announced at Meta Connect, are rolling out now, 9to5Google reports. It also says a couple of navigation upgrades are now “broadly available as an update in the Meta AI app,” including turn-by-turn Pedestrian Navigation and a feature for sharing your location from your phone with your glasses.
A few of us in the newsroom got a Monday morning delivery of Google-powered laptops, and we’re starting to set them up. (All five of them!) We have lots of testing to do, and lots of questions to answer. Questions like, do I actually want Android apps on my laptop? But we also want to know what you want to know! If you have questions, drop ‘em here — we’ll answer as many as we can here, and in all our coverage this week.
(Also, if you buy one, tell us which one and why. And whether the people at Best Buy had any idea what you were talking about.)

Inventor Matty Benedetto’s latest creation is a 60W USB-C charging cable disguised as a 10-foot extension cord complete with chunky connectors on each end. If you’re worried your charging cords aren’t overcrowding your USB hub you can grab the Extension-C Cables in orange, black, or green colors for $25 each.

More phones should have matte displays.
After Samsung bumped up prices on its Galaxy S26 and midrange A-series phones last week, Google quietly did the same for its Pixel 10A. It was $499, but now starts from $599 — a hard sell for a phone that was already almost identical to the 9A from a year before.

Remarkably kind and perpetually youthful, the internet’s favorite dancer has stopped bringing his smartphone to work:
“They’re horrible things. I’m addicted to it like everybody else. They’re facilitating our own destruction. […] The world has changed since cell phones have existed. We don’t look at each other or talk to each other quite the same way.”

It took decades, but the technology is finally ready.
The Galaxy A57 5G now starts at $599 on Samsung’s official website, up from $549, and $100 more than the previous A56 5G, Android Authority reports. Samsung bumped up the starting prices on the other A series phones by $20 to $40, after its Galaxy S26 phones also got a $100 price hike.

I know Nocs Provisions because of its neat-looking binoculars and monoculars. Now, the company makes tech. Its $179.99 Portal FN7 is an screenless outdoor camera with an IP56 rating, USB-C connectivity, six image filters, a digital viewfinder, and the ability to shoot 16-megapixel photos and 4K video. Notably, it includes a shroud that lets you mount one of its mono/binoculars for a closer look.

Ever seen a lever-action card wallet with modular and magnetic parts you can easily swap without tools? It’s the OhSnap Wallet 2, it’s on Kickstarter now, and I love its compliant mechanism. I enjoyed using it as my wallet for a few weeks, but my phone does feel a lot lighter with it off! (I did buy the stand, though.)
Its consumer business chief Richard Yu said the higher costs are hurting Huawei’s profitability “very badly,” and Huawei will “have to raise prices going forward, though it will be moderate,” Bloomberg reports.

“The current memory supply circumstances are very challenging, but, as we’ve said before, they won’t last forever. The price of memory will eventually subside, and we look forward to reversing our own price increases when it does.”

Several wacky keyboard designs have been showcased by Google Japan every October for the last few years. Each has their own challenges for practical typing, but especially this new conveyor belt-inspired creation. You’ll learn patience by waiting for the keys you need to roll around — such a moving design.
Seen in leaks last month, the Buds On are Samsung’s first foray into open earbuds, joining the likes of Sony and Bose. They’re powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S7 Gen 1 chip, and have 9.5 hours of battery per charge. South Korea gets them first, on October 27th for ₩299,000 (about $220), with more markets to follow.
