The trip is part of his bid to raise money for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award.
There are 48 real tennis courts in the world and Prince Edward, who is the youngest child of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, will travel to Australia, England, Scotland, France and the USA to complete his journey.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is the world’s leading youth achievement honour, bringing together practical experiences and life skills to create committed global citizens and equipping young people for life.
The Ballarat Tennis Club will welcome the Prince on Sunday, April 8.
Prince Edward will watch a junior coaching masterclass held by resident professional Andrew Fowler and involving a group of students from Bacchus Marsh Grammar School.
The Prince will then play against leading juniors from Ballarat, followed by a couple of sets of doubles against local players, including Fowler.
The afternoon of tennis is the highlight of the Prince’s day in Ballarat, which also includes a visit to Federation University and a civic reception.
Those events will be followed by a private dinner with Ballarat Tennis Club members and guests.
