Abstract: Currently, there are less online monitoring forecast methods about running condition and fatigue life of mechanical parts, and the current methods have higher false alarm rate. To solve this problem, danger theory of artificial immune system were introduced into condition monitoring methods. An algorithm to predicting the using state or fatigue life of mechanical part was proposed. In this algorithm, the definition and the generation of danger signals are proposed combined with fatigue life and reliability of mechanical parts. According to the results of simulation and experiment, the theoretically residual fatigue life and reliability calculated from simulation analysis kept accordance with the actual residual fatigue life and the real reliability. This verified the validity of this algorithm proposed in this paper.

Abstract: Smurf attack belongs to popular Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack, and they can cause devastating impact on computer systems. Inspired by the principles of immune danger theory, a novel risk evaluation model, referred to as DTRESA, for smurf attacks is proposed in this paper. Within the presented model, dangerous smurf attacks are compared to bacterium (or virus) of the immune danger theory, which induce danger signal by simulating cellular distress or cell unnatural death; through immune recognition of artificial lymphocytes, the attacks are detected, and the attack risk is evaluated by calculating the danger signal of host computers. Simulation results and theoretical analysis show that the proposed model is feasible. Thus, it provides a novel solution to DoS detection and computer network security risk assessment.

Abstract: Inspired by the principles of immunity, a danger theory based model for network security risk assessment is proposed. After introducing the principle of the danger theory and with the improved concepts and formal definitions presented, the model architecture is described. And then, the methods of network intrusion detection and security risk assessment are given. Theoretical analysis and simu-lation results show that the proposed model can evaluate the network attack in real-time. Thus, it provides an effective risk assessment solution to network security.

Abstract: Inspired by the potential interesting ideas of the danger theory, a novel security evaluation paradigm for network security, it is called DTPSE, is proposed in this paper. Within DTPSE, computer network attacks are regarded as bacterium, which are dangerous, and induce danger signals through simulating cells undergoing injury, or stress or 'bad cell death'; the network evaluation centre can dynamically aware the security risk by fusion the danger signals received from host-based sensors. Theoretical analysis shows that the proposed paradigm is feasible. Thus, it provides a novel solution to information security risk assessment.
