Hungary - List of Champions

No teams from outside Budapest played in the league until 1926. Starting with the 1907/08 season, regional championships were organised, whose winners played off for the "Vidki Bajnoksg", the "provincial championship". The winners of that playoff were entitled to challenge the Budapest league champions for the Hungarian championship; however, such a match was to be played in Budapest, which was a financial burden on the provincial clubs; so only one such playoff took place before the First World War (in 1909), and the result was unequivocal. In 1924/25, a tournament involving the top-2 of the Budapest league and the 6 regional champions was played for the Hungarin championship; in 1925/26, the Budapest runners-up did not enter. In all seasons in which an all-Hungarian final was played, it was won by the winners of the Budapest league.
