If you're looking to smarten up your home, Amazon Prime's Big Deal Days has you covered with sales on Alexa+-enabled smart speakers and smart displays, plus security cameras, including some of our favorite video doorbells, and many other connected gadgets. It's Amazon's event, so of course, expect tons of deals on first-party products.
I've been reviewing smart home gadgets for over a decade, and I can vouch for each of the products below. We recommend these devices even at their full retail prices, so these meaningful discounts make them extra appealing.

Amazon Echo Dot (5th Gen)
Amazon Echo Show 5
Blink Video Doorbell
Best Amazon Smart Speaker Deal
The Amazon Echo Dot is an excellent smart speaker that can easily fit on a nightstand. With Alexa built in, you can give voice commands to ask questions, control your other smart home devices, check your calendar, play music, and more. The Echo Dot is too small for powerful sound, but the fifth-gen version is balanced nonetheless, and tap controls allow you to play or pause songs, end calls, stop ringing timers, or snooze alarms.
All of that makes this Prime Big Deal Day sale a particularly good get. Part of the Echo Dot's appeal is its affordable price. On an ordinary day, it's one of the cheapest ways into Amazon's ecosystem. Today, it's an attractive 50% off its $79.99 list price, so you can snag it for $39.99.
This isn't actually its lowest price ever, and Amazon is doing a little shuffling here. At launch, the fifth-generation Echo Dot sold for $49.99, so the company recently increased the retail price. That said, $39.99 is still less than its ordinary price, and makes the Echo Dot an even better value.
Best Amazon Smart Display Deal
If you want a smart display on your nightstand, the Amazon Echo Show 5 is my top recommendation. It has Alexa built in for voice commands, and it's compatible with Amazon's upgraded version of Alexa, called Alexa+, for more conversational responses. You can use the touch screen to watch videos or scroll through pictures, and a 2MP camera is on board for video calls if you want to check in with a loved one. The touch screen is particularly useful for controlling smart home devices, letting you fine-tune settings with a tap.
While Amazon offers smart displays with much bigger screens, the 5.5-inch display is perfect for small spaces like a bedroom. The Echo Show 5 lists at an affordable $99.99 price for this newest, third-generation model. For Prime's Big Deal Days, you can get it at a very attractive 40% off, marked down to $59.99.
Again, though, Amazon is inflating its discount percentage and not quite matching the device's lowest price ever. Right before the event, Amazon upped the MSRP of the Show 5 from $89.99 to $99.99, but its current deal price is still a good value.

Best Amazon Security Device Deal
The newest version of the Blink Video Doorbell camera records sharp, well-saturated video with a 150-degree field of view, both vertically and horizontally. This 1:1 aspect ratio lets you see the person's feet at your door, so you can get a sneak peek at any packages they're dropping off. The box includes the Sync Hub needed to send footage to the cloud, and the camera has person recognition for smart notifications. It's also easy to install since it can be wired or battery-powered.
Amazon-owned Blink tends to make affordable products, and this video doorbell is no different. Its starting price of $59.99 is a bargain given its wide field of view, versatile installation options, and included smart features. For Prime's Big Deal Days, it's 55% off, so you can snag it for $26.99. Bear in mind, expensive video doorbells can cost hundreds, and this capable model first retailed for $69.99, so this is a good opportunity to secure your porch for a fraction of what you'd normally pay.
My favorite Amazon device deals let you add useful smarts to your home at minimal cost. If you're looking for something else entirely, we've got you covered with all of the rest of our coverage of Prime's Big Deal Days.

Should I Get the Echo Dot or the Echo Show 5 for My Nightstand?
I prefer the Echo Dot because I don't actually want a device with a screen or a camera next to my bed. That said, if you'd find either useful for a nighttime video call or for checking on your smart home devices before turning off the lights, the Echo Show 5 is an excellent device.
What's Missing at This Price From the Blink Video Doorbell?
More expensive video doorbells provide higher-definition video, and Blink only works well with Amazon's assistant, whereas other companies make models with better support for Google- and Apple-powered smart homes. The newest video doorbells also now use AI to power smart search features and provide summaries of captured clips.
Are Amazon Devices Actually Cheaper on Prime Day?
Some of them, yes. To an extent, Amazon uses the day as a kind of clearance sale to offload older models without always offering much of a discount on its latest and greatest tech, but the sales we've highlighted are all on the latest generation models. However, before this event, Amazon raised MSRPs on some devices before discounting them, inflating sales values. It's always good to check with a site like CamelCamelCamel to ensure you're getting a good deal.
