digital yuan
China's central bank digital currency (CBDC), which began testing in 2020 and is transitioning to a commercial bank deposit system as of 2026. The digital yuan is the digital version of the renminbi (RMB), the country's official currency. Renminbi means the "people's currency." See CBDC.
