Some students have already attended their first classes, but there's still time to snag back-to-school discounts on all kinds of top tech. Of all the hardware manufacturers we review, Lenovo consistently delivers great units with durable laptop builds, solid silicon loadouts, and great customer support. It's rare that one gets a negative review, and many take home Editors' Choice awards. The eight education-oriented laptops we're spotlighting all get the job done, ranging from a budget model just over $500 to several powerful portable gaming PCs.
Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Deal
Lenovo's ThinkPad laptops are the core of its PC business, ultrareliable Windows machines with great build quality and impeccable performance. The E series is the most budget-oriented of the ThinkPads, but don't be fooled by its affordability. There's very little during the school year that it won't be able to handle. We have a review of the 5th generation version of this laptop (the one on sale is a 7th gen), where it got an Editors' Choice award and robust praise for its top-notch keyboard, great connectivity options, including multiple USB-C ports, and epic battery life. Component-wise, this one is a great value with a speedy Intel Core 5 processor and a full 1TB of onboard storage. It's not the flashiest PC on the market, but it'll last them into grad school without breaking a sweat, and a 30% discount is huge.
Lenovo ThinkPad P14s Deal
For a productivity-focused laptop with a bit more power to leverage, this is a hot discount on the quite good ThinkPad P14S. Coupling a cutting-edge AMD Ryzen AI 7 Pro processor with a whopping 64GB of system RAM makes this the perfect portable for on-device AI, and that makes up for the lack of a dedicated graphics card. We have a review of a different loadout of this machine, praising its solid-feeling but still relatively lightweight build quality, exceptional battery life, and typically great Lenovo keyboard and touchpad. Connectivity is also cutting-edge, with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 on board. ThinkShield security features keep all your projects locked down.
Lenovo Chromebook m Deal
Lenovo doesn't just make Windows machines, and if you're hunting a super-budget laptop that'll get the job done, ChromeOS is where it's at. The Chromebook m is an entry-level machine with low-powered components, but it's built nicely and runs smoothly. You can put it up against our list of the best Chromebooks and see how it compares, but the short version is that its high-resolution borderless display is crisp and colorful for the price, it boots up in seconds, and features fast Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. It's MIL-STD-810H-certified for durability as well.
Lenovo Yoga 7a 2-In-1 Deal
Convertible laptops are solid picks for students thanks to their flexibility—being able to jot down notes and annotate readings on a touchscreen is great when they're in the lab or on a field trip, and switching back to a standard keyboard for writing papers and e-mails is the way to go. Lenovo's Yoga 7a is a well-rounded model that is seeing a sweet $700 price drop right now, so check it out. We have a full review of this portable, where high points included an all-metal chassis that felt durable, if a bit heavy; long battery life so it'll marathon through multiple classes; and a comfortable keyboard, which we've come to expect from Lenovo at this point.
Lenovo IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1 Laptop Deal
For a budget option that still delivers on the Lenovo promise of solid build quality, the IdeaPad 5i is a great pick with a 7% back-to-school discount. In our review of this touch-screen portable, we were impressed by its long battery life, comfortable input from both keyboard, trackpad, and screen, and extensive port selection. Inside the case, you get acceptable if not class-leading silicon, with the Core Ultra 5 processor more than enough to tackle homework or class notes. It's lightweight and comfortable to carry while still passing MIL-SPEC standards for durability. RAM and storage are both acceptable for the price, and with what you save, an external drive can boost your capacity.
Here's a 36% price drop on another strong contender in the all-around space, featuring an ultra-lightweight, all-metal exterior for peak durability, a well-configured chipset that handles productivity and entertainment without slowdown, and great power efficiency. A 100% sRGB coverage display with EyeSafe blue light reduction is easy to work on for hours. The ThinkPad 14X does make some sacrifices to come in at such a slim profile, and just 256GB of onboard storage might have your student straining if they don't practice good file storage hygiene. It does have dual slots, so it's easy to pop it open and install another drive. At this price, it easily outclasses models in the same bracket in our best laptops list.

Lenovo Legion Pro 5i Gen 10 Gaming Laptop Deal
We're seeing a surprising amount of gaming hardware get discounted during this year's back-to-school sales, which makes sense. What's more useful than a powerful PC for both work and play? The Lenovo Legion Pro 5 is a very capable midrange portable that can deliver solid performance on today's most anticipated games, then seamlessly switches into a productivity machine for high-octane computation. In our review, we gave it an Editors' Choice award, praising its fantastic OLED display, sturdy high-density plastic and aluminum build, and well-rounded connectivity. While the RTX 5060 GPU isn't the peak of Nvidia's new Blackwell series, it's a solid option for gaming on the go and pumps out frames fast enough for the 165-hertz screen. Naturally, the keyboard and trackpad both feel great. This configuration is currently offering an 19% discount.
Lenovo LOQ 15 Gaming Laptop Deal
For a less expensive gaming machine that's still a solid buy, this is a nice price for a 15-inch Lenovo LOQ. We have an extensive review of this gaming machine, where we declared it a solid pick for 1080p play thanks to a great keyboard with a full number pad and offset arrow keys, as well as good components, including a Blackwell-series GPU and 512GB of internal storage. We did note that the FHD screen isn't as high-resolution as we expect from modern gaming portables. That said, it packs a lot of power for the price, and the Windows 11 install is refreshingly free of bloatware.
