Together, they [LL Cool J and Scott Caan] demonstrate a delightful chemistry that is not limited to (pretty funny) jokes about their physical disparity. But they also shine as individuals.

I’m going to assume that anyone who loves “NCIS” with its combination of Scooby Gang teamwork, sentimentality, action and wiseacre banter will feel happy here.

All in all, NCIS: New York opens with a strong-enough pilot that effectively addresses the urgent concerns plaguing it. With all the story explanation and character introduction now out of the way, all it has to do is maintain what it has started to prove that it has legs to last.

NCIS: New York isn’t doing anything that will make fans of the franchise scratch their heads. They stick to the formula, but the show is aided by the immense charms of both LL Cool J and Scott Caan, and the chemistry they have as partners.
