End of Abyss is the surprise hit of year, with its forebodingly atmospheric Facility, unsettling enemy design, and well executed minimalist philosophy, it brilliantly combines its multiple genres to create a distilled and engaging survival horror experience.

Despite the glitches, I loved snooping through the cold, industrial hallways of End of Abyss, and the bugs did surprisingly little to affect my overall opinion. I've been looking forward to End of Abyss for quite some time, and I'm pleased that it mostly lived up to those expectations.

40+ hours in, and I’m still hooked. This is exactly the kind of old school challenge I’ve been missing. It’s not for everyone, but if you grew up with similar games, you’ll probably love it. The game runs great for me with very few issues and I’d happily buy a sequel. As for those 0/10 reviews, I think some people just don’t get what this game is going for, or aren’t used to similar games but a 0/10? Come on.

A breath of fresh air — that’s the best way to describe End of Abyss.Despite a few minor technical bugs, the game turned out fantastic, both narratively and mechanically. It doesn't hold your hand or spoon-feed you what to do next. The mysterious plot comes together piece by piece like a puzzle: you can explore your surroundings to slowly piece together what's actually happening, or you can just rush forward. The controls might feel a bit tricky at first, but after 15 minutes, everything **** the sound design! There are no long, sweeping melodies, but the attention to detail is superb: the click of the scanner (which you use all the time), the gunshots, the reloading sound... it all feels amazing. I honestly wanted to keep playing and never let this story end.Among the sea of generic titles and absolute junk, this game restores faith in the industry. It proves there is still soul in games, not just pure corporate greed

End of Abyss is a moody and cinematic metroidvania with a tantalisingly dark sci-fi world, tactile twin-sticks combat, and a scintillating brain-teaser of a map. It’s brutally hands-off at times, but it makes the moments when you figure it all out all the more satisfying. Some bugs do taint the experience a little, but End of Abyss is a gorgeous horror-tinged must for metroidvania fans.

Loot Level Chill
While not perfect, End of Abyss does plenty right when it comes to the sci-fi horror genre, with excellent sound design and a world that draws you in early.

Console Creatures
End of Abyss is an adventure that is both difficult and satisfying, combining stunning graphics with some rather unpleasant visuals and offering a carefully designed exploration facility. Every area is packed full of secrets to discover, unique enemies to fight, and tough bosses to overcome. With a mysterious story to solve, the game stands out in a highly competitive field and offers an experience well worth diving into.

Contrary to its fetchingly diminutive presentation, End of Abyss might be just too big for its own good.

Final Weapon
End of Abyss had all the pieces it needed to be a truly great experience. Certainly, some of the early gameplay situations and atmosphere were initially promising. However, the lackluster narrative and presentation, alongside the frustrating gameplay, made the game’s few high moments just as forgettable as the rest of it.

If you enjoy Metroidvanias, old-school games and atmospheric experiences like Little Nightmares and Reanimal, do yourself a favour and give this game a chance. ️ End of Abyss has a fantastic atmosphere, beautiful art direction and surprisingly strong level design. You have to learn the mechanics, understand enemy patterns and explore with some finesse, it’s not just about running around killing everything. That’s exactly what makes it rewarding. For a tiny indie studio making its first game, what they’ve created is genuinely really impressive. It has its own identity, and I think that deserves to be appreciated. It’s not flawless, and there are some bugs and rough edges, but nothing that a few updates can’t fix. What matters is the experience underneath, and that’s where this game really shines. If this looks like your kind of game, give it a shot! You might be missing out on one of the most interesting indie games of the year.

It’s a good game, but the combat should have been better balanced; it takes too many hits to take down each enemy, even when using the "right" weapon—especially considering you have to craft the ammo and farm the fragments to make it.

It could be such a good game, but instead we have got irritating controls, bad game balance, all this it spoiled the game. Shame.

Absolutely abysmal exploration and boss design. Bland areas you spend 90% of the game back tracking through to get 2 tapped by ads in a boss fight and run all the way back while getting stuck on invisible geometry in the hallways because these developers are from teams that have been making games for over ten years and still cant get it right. Lets also not forget that even when youre doing well, the game will just not register some inputs so you wont dodge anyway and still die. It is so aggravating that you cant get a refund on the psn store because I absolutely would refund this game. Definitely the worst Ive played in 2026. Please for the love of god do not give these people your money for this garbage.
