Mechanical Engineers research, design, develop, and test the mechanical and thermal systems that keep modern manufacturing running, helping American companies make products here. This #ManufacturingMonth, Manufacturing USA is highlighting jobs critical to #AdvancedManufacturing that are in demand now and will continue to be through 2031. More than 127,000 mechanical engineers were employed in manufacturing in Q3 2025, earning an average salary of $112,300. These jobs also offer strong opportunities for early career talent. Most of these roles only require a bachelor’s degree and entry level mechanical engineers made an average of $76,800 in 2025. There are also many Mechanical Engineer Technologists and CAD drafter roles which only require a two-year degree—these jobs had an entry-level salary over $52,000 in 2025. Mechanical engineers shape everything from tools and engines to advanced machinery, with skills in demand across #AdvancedManufacturing technology areas supported by Manufacturing USA Institutes, including: • Digital/Automation (CyManII | Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute) • Electronics (NextFlex) • Energy/Process Innovation (EPIXC) • Materials (Advanced Functional Fabrics of America (AFFOA), IACMI – The Composites Institute, LIFT, FutureTEX – The Textile Futures Institute) Learn more about advanced manufacturing occupations and the skills they require in the latest Advanced Manufacturing Occupation and Competency Framework: https://lnkd.in/epuqdVeH #MFGDay26 #MechanicalEngineering #EngineeringJobs #STEMCareers #WorkforceDevelopment #AdvancedManufacturing #ElectronicsManufacturing #MaterialsScience #DigitalManufacturing #InventedHereMadeHere
About us
Manufacturing USA was created in 2014 to secure U.S. global leadership in advanced manufacturing by connecting people, ideas, and technology. Manufacturing USA institutes convene business competitors, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to test applications of new technology, create new products, reduce cost and risk, and enable the manufacturing workforce with the skills of the future. The Manufacturing USA network is operated by the interagency Advanced Manufacturing National Program Office, which is headquartered in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), in the Department of Commerce. The office operates in partnership with the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, NASA, the National Science Foundation, and the Departments of Education, Agriculture, Health and Human Services (HHS), and Labor.

Today is #MFGDay, #ManufacturingDay! Why does that matter? Because it's one more way we: 📣 Break stereotypes of working in #manufacturing 📣 Close the skills gap for next-gen #workforce 📣 Connect communities offering great careers Recently at IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show, we challenged many of our partners to develop hands-on, engaging activities for students and educators, and they delivered! 💡clay forging 💡metrology activity 💡make-your-own cowbell 💡resin-cast propellers 💡customized buttons 💡engraved coins 💡balloon skewers 💡robotic arm Many of them will be finding ways to reach out to their communities today and throughout the month using these same ideas to engage and inspire students to pursue #STEM through programs like America's Cutting Edge (ACE) and METAL for America. Will you join us? Share how you're celebrating Manufacturing Day in the comments. 👇 and register to join us as an amazing event in a few weeks, Build Freedom Summit: https://lnkd.in/gfHByJ4W IDEELab at Mississippi State University, Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES), Tickle College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Calhoun Community College, Purdue University, St. Cloud State University, Ferris State University
