Last week in Denver, Colorado, the Constellation Software Inc. Volaris Revenue Signals Accelerator was one of those rare events where you could feel momentum building in real time. We had 17 companies in the room representing ~$350M in revenue (collectively). The highlight wasn’t the number. It was the mindset shift from “AI curiosity” to “we can actually build this.” The format was intense and hands-on. Teams moved from idea to prototype to confidence fast. The best part was that you could literally see the lightbulb moments as leaders and builders connected the dots on agentic development with GitHub, and real deployment paths in Azure and other cloud environments. What made it work, in my view, was how the Microsoft team showed up as coaches. We followed a simple coaching manifesto and it positively changed how we showed up, and here are the top 5 coaching learnings I took away: 1) Customer outcomes over ego. Their learning and confidence mattered more than being “right.” 2) Coaches, not heroes. Resist the urge to take over. Pair-code when it helps them learn. 3) Momentum first. Win one business and one use case at a time. Don’t design for scale on day one. 4) Outcomes over artifacts. A small working prototype that proves value beats an overbuilt demo. 5) Not optimizing for "impressing" Microsoft - we optimize for our customer confidence and capability. Massive shoutout to the Microsoft coaches who showed up with humility, clarity, and real craft. Coaching teams through the “how,” not just the “wow.” A big shoutout to Julianne Walker for preparing the team with an awesome coaching manifesto, Jimmy Shah for helping lead this cohort, and Matthew Nip for organizing Microsofters across all corners of MS from FDE, to Engineering, to GBBs, to MCAPs SEs to help coach at the event! And to Ian Reay and his team for putting this fantastic accelerator together. More from me to come on this - too many highlights and people to shoutout to! Onwards and upwards. 🚀
Awesome man - keep rocking it
It was a game changing event. Thank you for being such a critical part of it :)
Fantastic experience as a coach! Loved helping the teams turn ideas into truly impactful solutions. 👏
Lots more stickers on Laptops by the end of the week. I wore my GitHub T-shirt home with pride. 🤘
