Tom Cruise's "Digger" is tracking for a domestic opening in the $12 million to $15 million range. Projections were originally near $20 million but were revised down in recent days. All eyes have been on Cruise to see if he can deliver a much-needed win for Warner Bros. amid a bleak year for the studio at the box office. WB has not had a single movie cross $100 million domestically (by comparison, seven of its films did so in 2025) and has lost millions of dollars in theaters on the likes of "The Bride," "Supergirl" and "The End of Oak Street." "Digger" was greenlit at $125 million, but according to sources the budget climbed to $160 million to $180 million after production went over schedule. A Warner Bros. spokesperson disputes those figures. The studio says the movie needs to earn $300 million to break even in theaters. wp.me/pc8uak-1lHOta

Tom Cruise and Alejandro González Iñárritu together are enough for me to see anything, but I think the vague trailer won’t force the everyday moviegoer to leave their couch.

Who can afford to go see a movie these days? After paying a babysitter, admissions for two people, confection, parking and gas you’re looking at about $230. Especially when I spend about 15-30 minutes scrolling through my “to watch” list at home every night.

Saw it today. The unreasonable number of terrible reviews made me suspicious, but I now realize they were politically motivated. Truly one of the best films of the year…
