Not every organisation has the resources to build extensive testing infrastructure on its own. Shared facilities and common resources can help lower barriers to access, particularly for smaller organisations and innovators. By reducing duplication and making expertise more widely available, shared infrastructures can support both innovation and regulatory preparedness. They also contribute to greater consistency across Europe by helping stakeholders work from common foundations and approaches. Europe’s sectorial TEFs put this principle into practice by giving SMEs and other technology providers access to specialised physical and virtual testing capabilities that would often be difficult to develop independently. Testing plays an increasingly important role in the AI ecosystem, but not every organisation has access to the infrastructure needed to evaluate AI systems effectively. Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs) provide environments where AI systems can be tested, validated, and benchmarked under real-world conditions. Co-funded by the Digital Europe Programme, Europe’s four TEFs are sector-specific: TEF-Health, AgrifoodTEF, AI-MATTERS for manufacturing, and CitCom.AI for smart cities and communities. Testing takes place in real operating environments, from hospitals and farms to production lines and public spaces. While TEFs are not conformity assessment bodies and do not determine compliance with the AI Act, they can support testing, validation, regulatory preparedness, and the development of evidence that may support assessment activities. These facilities can support innovation, improve understanding of system performance, and help build the technical capabilities needed for effective AI Act implementation. As AI regulation develops, access to robust testing environments is becoming increasingly important for both developers and public authorities. Looking for testing and validation support? Physical AI is becoming real — but maybe not quite as fast as the headlines suggest. A few takeaways from today’s Human Robot Summit in Stuttgart: - The market is growing fast: around 19,000 humanoids in H1 2026, with ~60,000 expected by year-end. - China is clearly setting the pace in terms of scale, hardware availability and market visibility. - But in Europe and the US, many industrial applications are still pilots, POCs or early-stage deployments. - The real bottlenecks are becoming clearer: reliability, dexterity, training time, safety and security. And in Europe, technological sovereignty matters: trusted manufacturers, secure systems and clear safety standards will be critical for industrial adoption. So yes, the technology is real. But the glossy videos often make it look further ahead than it actually is in day-to-day industrial use. And this is where I see an exciting role for Humanetics: What happens when a powerful autonomous machine physically interacts with a human?

🟧 A few observations from ELECOMP 2026 Last week, ELECOMP and INOTEX were held at the same time. Because of a busy schedule, I only had the chance to visit ELECOMP. I heard from some friends that INOTEX was a better experience overall. Here are a few things I noticed at ELECOMP: 1️⃣ There were noticeably more AI companies compared to last year. 2️⃣ Many of the AI companies were working on solutions for businesses and organizations. This shows that there is a growing demand for practical AI solutions in the enterprise space. 3️⃣ There is a lot of overlap between ELECOMP and INOTEX, so holding them at the same time was not appropriate at all. 4️⃣ Unlike last year, there were almost no international companies at the exhibition. 5️⃣ Automating repetitive tasks was one of the main topics at the exhibition. With the rise of AI agents, automation is now moving to a new level. 🔴 But here is my main takeaway: 📌 Simply visiting an exhibition is not enough. 🔸 To get real value from these events, we should prepare before going: identify the companies we want to meet and learn about them in advance. Because in the end, the real value of an exhibition is not just the booths we visit, but the connections we make and the relationships we continue after the event. #ELECOMP2026 #AI #EnterpriseAI #AIAgents #Automation #Technology

Day 2: Representing GRAG AI Factory, Singapore at the CII Digital Business Delegation to Japan (2026), our Founder, Ashish Srivastava, continued the tour with a visit to OMRON Corporation in Kyoto. At GRAG AI Factory, Singapore, our focus is turning cutting-edge AI research and agentic systems into real-world production. Seeing nearly a century of sensing technology built around one principle serving human and social needs first reinforced a core truth. The real value of AI lies where intelligent algorithms meet genuine human purpose. When Japanese purpose-driven engineering (since 1933) merges with modern AI systems, it redefines what human-centered automation can truly achieve. Exciting discussions ahead as we explore deeper global AI collaborations across Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka this week. Factories have spent decades automating predefined tasks. Can AI agents really interpret operating conditions, support decisions, and learn from production-specific knowledge—while people retain authority over high-consequence actions? 👉 Join our conversation at IIAC Tokyo 2026: https://iiac.events/ Kazushi Osumi of ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC)'s AI Business will share how factory AI agents can help move industrial operations from static automation toward more adaptive, intelligent support. Mr. Osumi’s session will examine how autonomous AI agents can support factory workflows, assist operational decisions, and apply domain-specific learning in production environments. It will also address the foundations required for responsible adoption, including reliability, governance, human oversight, and control of industrial knowledge. This is your opportunity to examine where AI agents can create meaningful operational value, which decisions should remain under human authority, and what it takes to introduce learning systems into factory operations with confidence. #IIAC2026 #KazushiOsumi #CTC #IndustrialAI #FactoryAI #AutonomousAgents

The next AI breakthrough may begin with a conversation. AI development is no longer happening in isolation. The latest discussions around robotics and smart automation increasingly bring together manufacturers, technology companies, researchers and industry professionals. At the same time, AI-driven manufacturing is becoming increasingly connected with areas such as digital twins, industrial automation and intelligent infrastructure. This creates a different question for the industry: How do we move from technological capability to industrial direction? That requires more than algorithms. It requires: • Industry expertise • Technical exchange • Business perspectives • Manufacturing experience • Cross-sector collaboration This is where an industry platform can play an important role. At AIE 2026, leading AI minds, industry speakers and technology companies will gather to discuss: AI commercialization Smart manufacturing Emerging technologies Industrial applications New directions for intelligent industries The exhibition floor shows what is being built. The conference stage explores where the industry is going. 📍 Macao & Zhuhai, China 📅 December 3–5, 2026 Which question should the AI industry be discussing more seriously right now? #AIE2026 #ArtificialIntelligence #SmartManufacturing #IndustrialAI #Robotics #AIInnovation #Technology #Manufacturing #B2B

Several of Sarah Lee's IMTS takeaways line up directly with the problems we’re solving at DeepHow: execution, operational context, measurement, and the gap in AI adoption on the frontline. AI needs to understand how work actually gets done: 1. The technique an experienced operator uses 2. The sequence that matters 3. The variation that affects quality, and 4. The waiting that limits production. Capturing that knowledge makes it possible to guide people, verify execution, and identify where performance can improve. That connects our knowledge capture with Live SOP Verification, Time & Motion AI, Factory Flow Intelligence, and Process Drift Analysis. Each addresses a different part of turning operational know-how into better results. Helping manufacturers learn, perform, and improve is central to how we think about Physical AI for Operational Excellence. Thanks IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show for great show.
Global Manufacturing Industry Analyst | Translating Industrial AI, Robotics & Digital Innovation into Actionable Insight for Manufacturing Leaders
This year, I spent my time at IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show listening to how manufacturers and technology providers are talking about AI, and the conversation has evolved. Fewer conversations about what AI could do. More about what it takes to make it work in production, spanning execution, trust, context, orchestration, physical AI and the frontline. In IDC’s 2026 Future of Work survey, only about 2% of manufacturers said they had fully converted their AI pilots into production, while close to 60% had moved fewer than half. At the same time, vendors at IMTS showed more capable agents, faster application development, more flexible robotics, and new approaches to physical AI. The challenge is increasingly what sits around the technology: Does AI have the context it needs to act? Can AI actions be governed and controlled? Can these capabilities connect across systems and sites? And are frontline workers actually getting access to them? Those questions shaped my thinking throughout IMTS and are reflected in my key takeaways for manufacturers. These are the themes I think manufacturing leaders should be watching as AI moves from demonstration toward operating practice. #IMTS2026 #Manufacturing #PhysicalAI #AgenticAI #IndustrialAI
