I found a way to save 98% on my CI/CD build Jobs using Hetzner instead of GitHub hosted actions. I was experimenting with GitHub Actions over the weekend and since I self-host all my projects on Hetzner, I wanted to run my CI/CD build jobs on Hetzner VPS as well. This template contains GitHub Action to automatically create Hetzner Cloud servers and register them as self-hosted GitHub Actions runners. (Link in comments) It launches a Hetzner Cloud Server as a self-hosted GitHub Actions Runner just before the job starts. Executes the workflow, and then automatically terminates the server upon completion. All within the GitHub Actions workflow. -- Follow Me for more insights: Animikh Aich

Great stuff, did you benchmark upstart times for hetzner self hosted and github server hosted runners?

Great work. I prefer to self-host all whatever I can.

I have a vps and github self hosted runner on the server. I am just paying for VPS.

There is an even better alternative called Ubicloud, it requires no change to yamls and offers free 2000 mins with up to 64gb ram for runners! https://www.ubicloud.com/use-cases/github-actions
