| Day 25 VM Scale Sets: Scaling Is Easy. Scaling Well Is Not.| VM Scale Sets make horizontal scaling approachable: ▪︎ Add instances automatically ▪︎ Replace unhealthy VMs ▪︎ Integrate with load balancers But today’s big takeaway: ➡️ Autoscaling without constraints is risky. ➡️ Always define min/max instances and scale triggers. Resilience and cost control must grow together. #AZ104 #VMScaleSets #AzureAutoscale #LearningInPublic #DevOps

"We need quality at speed. For that, we need automation. AI can help us make this easier!" 🚀 Chaos Engineering has come a long way—from unplugging servers to simulating network issues and killing critical pods to test resiliency. Now, AI is taking it to the next level with AI-augmented chaos experiments! In this insightful episode of the PurePerformance podcast, Bartłomiej Pisulak, Director of Cloud Quality Engineering at Pegasystems, shares with Andreas (Andi) Grabner and Brian Wilson how AI can enhance the 5 critical phases of chaos testing: Steady State, Hypothesis, Run Experiment, Verify, and Improve. 🎧 If you’re curious about how AI is reshaping Chaos Engineering, tune into the podcast now: https://lnkd.in/gqDPKfAR #ai #chaosengineering #techpodcast

🔐 Making the AWS Confused Deputy vulnerability not so confusing! To celebrate Cybersecurity Awareness Month, I wrote my second AWS Builder Center article on one of the more misunderstood security issues in AWS: the Confused Deputy vulnerability. In this article, I cover: - What the Confused Deputy Problem is. - How the attack works. - How to prevent your environments from this type of attack. If you manage IAM roles, trust policies, or IAM policies, this article is for you. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/etWZ8GZR

𝗧𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗿𝗲 ≠ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 A quick reminder for recruiters and hiring managers: Seeing "4 years of experience" on a resume doesn’t automatically mean a candidate has four years of growth. Too often, people don't have ten years of experience... They have one year of experience repeated ten times. When reviewing a profile, look for evolution, not just time served. Look for the projects they took on, the new skills they learned, and how their impact scaled over time. #Recruiting #TalentAcquisition #HR #HumanResource #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #DevOps

I've never been great at uncomfortable conversations. Not at work, and not at home. Every tough discussion felt like a minefield, and I wanted to avoid it. Over time, I learned something surprising: you can actually build confidence in discomfort. Not by avoiding it, but by reframing what you focus on. Instead of fixating on how awkward or tense the situation felt. I started to focus on the purpose of the conversation. You see, the goal is never to "win" the moment, but to navigate it with honesty and respect. That mindset shift changed everything for me. I stopped avoiding the minefield and started appreciating them as opportunities to grow as a communicator and a leader. And the learning never ends, but now every uncomfortable moment feels like progress and not pain. What has helped you handle uncomfortable conversations more effectively? #Leadership #Management

DevOps engineers frustrate everyone when they break things. There are ways to avoid this frustration. The best one is not to break things. Maybe that's easier said than done. Having a clear plan is a great start. Applying DevOps principles to forge the way forward is even better. When we apply the standards we set for other engineers to ourselves, we start to think like engineers about our own processes and products. We can version control pipelines, improve our own testing, and do everything we can to fail forward - and not to affect others' precious pipelines while we're at it! For more specifics, please check out my latest blog post, Think Like an Engineer. I go a bit more into detail about some strategies we can use to make sure we stay in engineers' good graces and don't prevent people from doing their vital work. https://lnkd.in/g4bkmctJ

I recently came across a post discussing a job candidate who successfully fooled interviewers during an audio-only web meeting. The voice was so realistic that the team only discovered the truth afterward. This incident amplifies the reality of AI impersonation and the need for checks regarding audio-only participants. I don’t think real-time video avatars are there just yet. This led me to an amazing write-up on voice biometrics, which have some fascinating technical details. The applications extend beyond authentication and identity management; companies like Microsoft are already planning to implement it in conference spaces. By enrolling users with both face and voice samples, this technology enables rooms to intelligently cancel background noise and even tag speakers for diarization or sentiment analysis. But what if we implemented these kinds of checks on our phones themselves? Or if they were sent during the call signaling or contact creation. An iPhone contact that also imports the user’s encrypted biometric audio sample with water mark. No more pretending you’re Josh to scam Grandma. Possibly thwarted at the device, manufacturer, or provider level. The topic is a fascinating one. For a deeper dive into voice biometrics, check out the great write-up by Parloa!
