Kristin Stoller shared thisTwo personal dreams came true this week: 1️⃣ Gathering a room of brilliant CMOs in New York for a candid, thought-provoking conversation 2️⃣ Finally getting to try Per Se 🍽️ On Tuesday, Fortune partnered with Uniphore to host a private dinner with marketing leaders from across finance, healthcare, tech, and consumer brands. The big question on the table: as AI takes more of the guesswork out of marketing decisions, what new possibilities open up, and where does human judgment matter most? We covered a lot of ground between courses: how the CMO role has changed since AI arrived, where the line falls between helpful and intrusive personalization, and what CEOs and boards are really asking of marketers right now. Thank you to Claire Darling and Karen Smith of Uniphore for cohosting, to all the executives who brought their honesty to the table, and to Nicola S. for making the night run seamlessly. Here's to many more!

Kristin Stoller shared thisHad the honor of subbing in for Ellie Austin today on Fortune's Daily Show. Today I chatted with Emily Forlini on the rise of personal AI agents. Why were they designed to be so cutesy, and why are customers willing to hand over a ton of personal data? Plus: We talk OpenAI's "mission interview," where they ask job candidates about how they will contribute to ensuring that artificial general intelligence "benefits all of humanity.” And don't miss the cameo from Andrew Nusca 🕶️ Watch the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/gBhF3UPr

Put another way: Roughly two employees are weighing an exit for every one who accepts a job at a company. Why? Kristin Stoller reposted thisKristin Stoller reposted this"If you’re leading people, you probably know people are not okay." At the 2025 Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit, author Brené Brown said that workers are "emotionally dysregulated, distrustful, and disconnected." "You’ve got really massive instability, geopolitically, changing markets, and AI. And tech," she said. This year's #FortuneMPW Summit takes place October 12-14 in Santa Barbara, where today’s top leaders will gather to chart a new blueprint for power—one that prioritizes clarity amid uncertainty, collaboration across divides, and purpose alongside performance. Kristin Stoller reacted on thisKristin Stoller reacted on thisGod. I don't really know what to say! Yesterday I shared that I'm getting divorced. I posted it to avoid having to tell people one-to-one when they ask how I am or why I've been away for a few weeks. I knew I couldn't keep having the same painful conversation again and again. I hate crying in public. I thought it was the easy way out. But now I am so glad I did it. I have never felt less alone. ❤️ Thank you. Thank you for every kind comment. Every DM. I've been blown away by the response. If I've not responded yet, please bear with me. It seems I've touched a nerve. There are hundreds of you. Just like me. Either going through this now, or having navigated this path years before me. Some even told me they've not told anyone about their divorce yet out of fear of looking like a failure. They're going to work and pretending everything is normal. I hope if anything, me being open about this makes even one of you feel a little less like you have to carry it in silence. I'm not going to pretend I'm OK every day. I'm not. Some days I'm fine, some days I'm really not, and I'm learning that both are allowed. But I know this is the start of a new chapter. I don't know exactly what it looks like yet. I just know there's a bright future on the other side of this ⭐️

Yes x 100. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I would also add play the long game. I have seen PR people who only approach reporters when they need an article. Reporters can smell a user from a mile away. Be genuine in all your interactions, especially reporters reject your pitch. Take rejections as signals and a valuable opportunities to learn how to better craft your pitch next time.

https://lnkd.in/eDRkxUU9 Local news is under strain as shrinking resources and expanding news deserts weaken democratic accountability. AI poses new risks by diverting audiences and generating generic content, yet it can also help journalists process civic information and improve efficiency. Experts warn that AI must support, not replace, human reporting, and call for collaboration and government support to protect local journalism’s quality and diversity.

Most journalists are building their careers on the wrong metric. I see this pattern constantly: A journalist obsesses over their article's click count. It gets 50k views, and they celebrate. Views are a vanity metric that's actively destroying journalism. Why? Because views reward sensationalism, not quality. They reward the headline that triggers outrage, not the investigation that actually changes policy. Here's what actually matters: 1. Saves & shares (not just views - shows someone values it enough to return to) 2. Comment depth (not just reactions - shows intellectual engagement) 3. Attribution & citations by other credible outlets (your real peers noticing) 4. Policy/business impact (did it actually change something?) 5. Reader loyalty (do they come back for you specifically?) If you're measuring success by clicks, you're playing a game where sensationalism always wins. If you're measuring by influence, who's listening, who's citing you, who's changing their mind because of your work, you're building something that lasts. What metric do you think journalists should actually be tracking? Let's challenge the conventional wisdom here. #JournalismMetrics #MediaIndustry #CareerGrowth #JournalisticIntegrity #DataDriven #MediaAnalysis #ContentQuality #IndustryInsights
