With BGP Anycast, a single IP address can be served from hundreds of locations at once, and the internet's own routing system decides which one each user reaches. If connectivity to a region degrades because of a fiber cut, a transit provider failure, or a local infrastructure problem, routes to that site disappear and traffic shifts to the next best location automatically. This new blog post from Katherine G. outlines how Anycast enables one IP address to become your first line of defense in a multi-layer network resiliency strategy. Great primer on MOQ! Excited to be collaborating with Quortex on broadcast distribution over MOQ.
Media over QUIC (MOQ) is still taking shape at the IETF, and it’s already worth understanding. 💡 The idea behind it is simple. Instead of sending one complete feed to everyone, MOQ carries video, audio, subtitles and data as separate tracks. Receivers subscribe to the tracks they need, and relays across public networks share them out. This matters on both sides of the industry. In distribution, each site could take its own mix of languages and data from the same source. In streaming, one protocol could serve interactive experiences and very large audiences alike, with data like scores kept in step with the video. Quortex has been contributing to MOQ from the start. This NEW Report “Where Does the Signal Go Next?" based on the event from The Hive Group at #IBC2026 covers what happens when broadcasters move the signal from satellite to IP. A few takeaways stood out to us: 1️⃣ There is no single replacement. Networks, affiliates and vendors agreed the answer is hybrid, and that recovery has to be predictive, not reactive. A switch after a failure is still an outage. 2️⃣ The last mile decides the design. Once satellite is gone, every receive point has to be connected, monitored, measured, and managed. Orchestration and observability are now a core challenge. 3️⃣ Flexibility raises complexity and consolidation is the answer. Satellite was simple: send it up and it reaches everyone. IP brings more paths, more endpoints and more to manage. The industry is responding by consolidating transport, monitoring and control into fewer systems. We believe that transport and control can be consolidated to reduce complexity. NetActuate and Quortex announced a global agreement whereby the Quortex Edge CDN control plane runs inside NetActuate’s owned network across 50+ locations, with PowerVu and vDCM integrated into the NetActuate Media Substrate. We’re excited to keep building with Quortex as broadcasters map connectivity and test hybrid configurations. 📄 Read the full report, including the NetActuate and Quortex perspective on page 15: https://lnkd.in/grHNTt4U Mark Mahle, Mark de Jong, Greg Wallace, Kenelm Deen, Virginie Ledevin, Anne-Cécile SOULARUE (PESTY), Bart Van Daele, Robin Oakley, Elke Hungenaert, Junaid Subzwari #NetActuate #Quortex #Broadcast #IPDistribution #CBand #MediaTech

2025 was a rough year for SREs in terms of global network outages. A new blog post from Katherine G. outlines what was learned during these outages and how to approach multi-layer network resiliency. https://lnkd.in/gt8GCmwY #NetActuate #IBM #NS1 #Networking #Outage #Resiliency #Anycast Greg Wallace, Mark Mahle, Claire O'Donovan, Charlie Sprankling, Mohamed Mahmoud, Terry Bernstein, Gaurav Krishna Nandu

Great conversation between Mark Mahle and Kenelm Deen on the Media Substrate, edge processing, and live video transport.
Every broadcaster planning beyond C-band wants the same thing from IP: to see where the packets are going, all the time. In this conversation, Kenelm Deen and Mark Mahle, CEO of NetActuate, explain how Quortex and NetActuate are making that possible. NetActuate's Media Substrate carries live video over diverse paths and reroutes around network or quality issues at the packet and stream level. Quortex adds PowerVu control and edge processing on top, so each customer receives one feed adapted to its needs, and broadcasters keep visibility from the network core to the edge. Together, it's a distribution platform built to bring satellite-grade availability to IP. Read the full announcement https://lnkd.in/eCYM2GQT

Great convo with our partner Quortex on collaboration at the global edge!
How you pay for a CDN should depend on how you use it. Robin Oakley from Quortex and Mark de Jong from NetActuate explain what changes when a CDN and the network beneath it are designed to work together. Edge spins up CDN capacity in minutes, running on NetActuate's global network and compute, in the specific POPs or groups of POPs you choose. That gives content providers real options: a just-in-time CDN for a big sports event, a dedicated full-time infrastructure, or a mix of both. Pricing follows the same logic, with models that go beyond the usual per-gigabyte billing. Read more about the partnership: https://ow.ly/AHlM50ZVPEv
