Last Thursday, Bas and Peter gave a workshop at Web Summer Camp in beautiful Opatija, Croatia. ☀️
The workshop on Adaptable Architecture provided a mix of theory and hands-on exercises with one central theme: as systems and teams grow, architecture needs to scale with both.
The theory explored the:
💡 Architectural Tug of War between business and operations.
💡 Separation of Concerns between development and deployment.
💡 Dimensions of Scale in humans and machines.
💡 Patterns of Growth in organization and operation.
The hands-on exercises focused on how to:
💪 Build a scalable system from a single codebase that unifies the frontend and backend.
💪 Scale the codebase from a single-team monolith to a multi-team modular monolith.
💪 Deploy domain features and their components anywhere, at any time.
Thanks to everyone who joined and asked such thoughtful questions, it became a fantastic session!

When they weren't presenting, they also attended several excellent sessions:
👍 "From Lizard to Wizard: Engineering Excellence" → Frontend mastery by Dan Neciu
👍 "From Idea to Product, and Beyond" → The power of Lovable by Marija Filipovic
👍 "Seeing the Unseen: Observability for your JavaScript apps" → How to do Observability by Dani Coll Leal and Indermohan Singh
There was no shortage of good food, drinks, and fun.
Officially, only Ivo Lukac can be blamed for organizing this superb event. But we all know the success wasn't just Ivo's fault. Plenty of the blame also goes to Netgen and the rest of the crew.
Thanks for having us! 🙏 We hope to be a part of next year's edition!
