Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at MLB! Our SOMOS ERG brought the culture to MLB HQ with an afternoon filled with music, movement, food, and a little friendly competition. We welcomed professional dancers Eddie Torres Jr. and Princess Serrano of Mambo Royalty Legacy for an unforgettable salsa lesson, enjoyed refreshing agua frescas from PUYA Tacos de Puebla, and went head-to-head in an intense domino tournament, where the winners had the chance to take home two tickets to Buena Vista Social Club where former major leaguer José Iglesias is making history as the first Latino MLB player to appear on Broadway. We also showcased custom Flow Mayor batting gloves developed with our partners at Franklin Sports. A great reminder that culture, community, and connection are always worth celebrating. #HispanicHeritageMonth #MLBSOMOS

⚾ Changing the Game with Agentic AI: Highlights from MLB’s 6th Annual Hackathon, Powered by Google Cloud This fall, Major League Baseball (MLB) wrapped up its 6th Annual Hackathon! Centered on the theme of Agentic AI, over 300 participants, judges, and support staff from MLB offices across New York, Boulder, San Francisco, El Segundo, Vero Beach, and remote locations gathered to push the boundaries of technology in baseball. Here is a breakdown of how MLB leveraged AI and cross-functional talent to shape the future of the sport: The Rise of the "Citizen Developer" Participation surged by nearly 50% this year, with 20% of participants joining from outside Product & Technology departments. Equipping team members of all backgrounds with AI capabilities empowered 60 cross-functional teams to tackle real-world MLB challenges and build working prototypes in record time. 5 Innovation Tracks Teams focused their efforts across five core areas to drive meaningful impact: - Future of Work: Reducing repetitive tasks, simplifying complex workflows, and boosting collaboration. - Fan & Partner Pavilion: Creating more personalized, intuitive, helpful, and memorable fan experiences. - BasebALL in the Community: Growing the game, breaking down barriers to entry, and improving accessibility across venues. - Imagination Engine: Elevating storytelling, design, content creation, and creative expression in baseball. - Wild Card: Exploring cross-disciplinary ideas and entirely new applications of Agentic AI. Powered by Google Cloud & "Judge Gemini" Google Cloud provided a comprehensive GenAI tech stack along with dedicated training sessions leading up to the event. In addition to evaluation by MLB leaders, projects were judged by "Judge Gemini"—an AI judge powered by Gemini—to award the Google Award for Most Innovative GenAI. From rapid prototypes to long-term strategy, business and technology leaders are already evaluating these projects for future MLB roadmaps. Congratulations to all 60 teams and 300+ participants who made this year’s Hackathon our most transformative yet! 👏 #MLB #GoogleCloud #AgenticAI #GenerativeAI #SportsTech #Innovation #Hackathon #CitizenDeveloper

With 2,430 MLB games and 8,280 MiLB games, thousands of gameday employees across North America spend hundreds of hours welcoming fans of all ages to baseball games for more than six months, helping to elevate the fan experience at every ballpark. Many of those employees go far above and beyond their duties to ensure fans enjoy exceptional experiences, so for the second year in a row, Major League Baseball recognized select staff members who were nominated by their Clubs with HOME RUN Service. This season, more than 150 employees from MLB and MiLB Clubs across 34 U.S. states and two Canadian provinces received this recognition. As the postseason gets underway, these employees continue to play an important role in delivering exceptional service and memorable experiences for fans throughout the final games of the season.

Major League Baseball and the New York Mets co-hosted a massive meal-packing event at Citi Field as part of MLB’s commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11th. Organized with the nonprofit 9/11 Day as part of the "UNITE For Good" initiative and MLB Together, baseball stars joined MLB and Mets staff, NBC Universal employees, and dedicated student-athletes to pack thousands of non-perishable meals for local families facing food insecurity ahead of the Subway Series matchup at Yankee Stadium. A special thank you to the former players who lent their hands to the cause: Hall of Famer Mike Piazza, David Wright, Al Leiter, John Franco, Todd Zeile, Robin Ventura, Adam Ottavino, Dellin Betances and Jimmy Rollins. We also extend our deepest gratitude to all our dedicated volunteers, including NYC neighboring colleges: Columbia University, St. John's University, Fordham University, Iona University, New York University, John Jay College (CUNY) of Criminal Justice and Wagner College. MLB Network also premiered When America Took the Field, a two-hour documentary commemorating baseball's role following the September 11th terrorist attacks. Produced alongside former Mets infielder Todd Zeile, the film explores how the sport provided hope, healing and unity, revisiting iconic moments like Mike Piazza’s emotional home run at Shea Stadium through exclusive interviews with players, broadcasters and impacted families. Together, through service and remembrance, we honor the legacy of resilience and unity. We Shall Never Forget.

From Major League Baseball to Broadway! Last week, MLB SOMOS ERG had the incredible opportunity to celebrate José Iglesias, also known by his musical alter ego “Candelita,” as he stepped into an exciting new role in Broadway’s Buena Vista Social Club. On August 27, he made history as the first Latino MLB player to appear on Broadway, bringing together two of his passions: baseball and music. From MLB All-Star and 2013 AL Rookie of the Year runner-up to accomplished singer and now Broadway performer. A beautiful reminder that sports and culture don’t just intersect, they move together.
